this week’s astral emphasis in your teamwork and collaboration zone says you’ll get by ‘with a lotta help from your friends’. Keeping your temper, treading carefully, and making the effort to play well with others are your savviest operating strategies for the coming three weeks.
LEO: Tune into your heart, the Leo-ruled part of your body, for courage and confidence during Friday’s annual full moon in Leo. Use this inner radiance as support through the intense and potentially explosive planetary emphasis in your partnership zone, as something winds to a close through Mercury retro’s setbacks and delays.
SAGITTARIUS: This week’s quartet of planets in gregarious Aquarius – including interactive, outgoing, Jupiter, your personal mentor – is a pretty dynamic transit for self-promotion. Just be aware that tunnel-vision is also operating, and stay open to diverse views. For best results, take extra care with what you say, write, post or message.
TAURUS: This week is bookended by challenging aspects, with a high point in the middle. If your stability’s disrupted by flux, stick with the discipline of whatever regular routine you’re able to maintain. Back up data and resign yourself to crossed wires for a while. Check everything before you buy, send or say yes.
VIRGO: The present planetary pattern awards you first prize for most organised sign. As others dither, you’re in ‘the zone’ when your galactic guardian Mercury embarks on its first backpedal this year. While you’re prepped for this tricky transit’s fragile egos and erratic behavior, try not to micromanage the magic out of this week either...
CAPRICORN: Feeling pressured? Who isn’t, right now? If this energetic week has you wanting to take a chance on something, be sure to read the fine print – at least twice. And think of the next three weeks’ retrograde as a sort of quarterly review period for checking your progress so far.
GEMINI: Dreaming of all the places you aren’t going? Then forget FOMO and Google instructions for JOMO from Gemini social commentator, Michael Leunig. Your planet guide Mercury heading into its first retrograde for 2021 is a perfect time to hit the snooze button, or at the very least go easy – it’s already been a punishing enough year.
LIBRA: Best to press save on data and devices before
CANCER: With Mercury entering one of its signalscrambling cycles, trust issues may come up, as in who, and what, you can trust (including yourself, to make the right decisions on your own behalf). An issue from the past could also resurface for resolution – again. Most reliable guide? Your own inner PGS: personal guidance system.

30 January, when communications and techno planet Mercury go rogue and group dynamics can fracture. Which won’t be all bad, as witty Mercury delivers plenty of sass, and an unexpectedly dramatic moment could suddenly free you up for a new move.
SCORPIO: As your base of operations takes a turn for the exciting – but also potentially stressful – watch what you say, post and text for the next few weeks. Direct the famous Scorpio laser focus onto what you do really well: working behind the scenes. If you have a big decision to make, Friday’s your best bet.
AQUARIUS: It’s all happening in the Aquarius corner this week, as your most fortunate year in a decade brings a cosmic clearance through obstacles. While the Sun and Jupiter conjunct in your sign is undeniably wonderful, remember that outrageous opinions are a double-edged sword, and during Mercury retrograde they can come back to cut you.
PISCES: Four planets activating your intuition suggests divine inspiration, but when one of them is Mercury retrograde, that could mean hibernation. Which looks like absolutely the best recipe for this period of losing things, forgetting stuff and letting go of what no longer serves you – to clear the path for something that does.
