Local netball survives COVID-19 A restricted, but nonetheless successful, 2020 netball season is coming to an end – but without a finals series for the Byron Brunswick Netball Association Incorporated. ‘Owing to COVID-19 restrictions we will not have the traditional award ceremony, or be able to invite all to our games,’ club president Robyn Venn said. The season started at the end of July and will finish this coming weekend for senior and junior divisions, except for Net Set Go juniors, who finished up last weekend. ‘Our representative teams have participated in local carnivals but were withdrawn from both junior and senior State Championships that were scheduled for October, but have since been cancelled,’ she said. ‘Five of our 17 and Under members have achieved their C Badge in umpiring during the season.’ To get the season underway the BBNAI worked with Netball NSW and the Department of Health to

Once the goal was scored, Byron took their foot off the pedal, and the rest of the half turned into a cagey affair. The Rams were unable to find the net with Rovers competing well. when Vazquez scored his second; doubling the lead with a rocket from outside the box. Oli Stautner sealed the win. All attention turned to the South Lismore game. South Lismore defeated Goonellebah 2-0 to keep Byron in second position. Semifinals start next week with Byron Bay taking on local rivals Bangalow.
