Letters Trashed beaches In response to your Beaches being trashed, but who is responsible? article (17 June). We are descendants of the Nyangbul Bundjalung people who call the area of Ballina, Lennox Head and South Ballina home. We too are concerned about the treatment of our traditional homelands by reckless individuals. We are disgusted that no-one is taking responsibility for an area that is so special to us. would welcome paid parking. As Byron Shire residents we can hold a parking permit, and with paid parking we may get a park in town, close to the shops or businesses we want to visit. Showground peace The Mullumbimby Showground is a beautiful, peaceful place for families, kids, dogwalkers and everyone to visit and enjoy. Except when cars speed through like it’s a main road – and many do. I’ve experienced asking people to slow down and being abused for it. Not long ago, someone’s dog was run over and killed at the showground whilst out walking. It could just as easily be a child or an elderly person who gets run over.
