Beers, burgers, and live music The Byron Bay Brewery is located an easy 5-minute walk from town at the iconic Piggery & Arts Factory, on Skinners Shoot Road. I remember the Piggery always being alive with the local music and international acts, with some pretty big-hitting names having graced the stage here: The Violent Femmes, New Order, and Midnight Oil to name just a few of my favourites! So it makes me super happy to see the new owners of the Byron Bay Brewery have made it their mission to bring back the live music room here and the locals are loving it! We started our most recent visit to the brewery with a tasting paddle each for $18 (you get to choose four different beers to try in 200ml glasses each). This is a great way for you to sample a bunch of different beers, before deciding which one to snuggle up with for your afternoon Sunday (or any day really) session. My favourites from my tasting paddle were Rosy and Dirty 30, and the Rosy was the perfect match for my burger – the FuCheese that is a playful and tasty combination of melting magic Raclette cheese and beef burger cooked to juicy perfection with a fresh-as sesame-seed bun. A beer and burger combination that was just meant to be together forever! Dave stayed true to his love of all things pulled pork and lager, and went with The Notorious P.I.G. burger, a smoky pulled-pork burger piled high with yummy pulled pork, house barbecue sauce, ’slaw and aioli ably supported by Dave’s pint of Hazy lager. Now a beers-and-burger session simply just wouldn’t be complete without chips and wings, so of course we also had to go with the Sriracha Wings $18 (8 wings) and the House-cut Fries with Aioli $6.50, both rounding off our Saturday drinking in the afternoon winter sun session.
