ADOPTION OF LOCAL APPROVALS POLICY (2018) The Local Approvals Policy allows for defined activities to occur, in prescribed circumstances, without the need for approval under Section 68 of the Local Government Act 1993. At Council’s Ordinary Meeting held on 2 February 2018, Byron Shire Council resolved to adopt the Local Approvals Policy and request consent from the Chief Executive, Office of Local Government, for the proposed exemptions. On the 22 October 2018 consent was given by the Office of Local Government for the adoption of Part 1 Exemptions. This consent excluded Part F5 – Install or Operate Amusement Devices as this approval was required by the Department of Planning and Environment. Consent by the Department of Planning and Environment was given on 11 December 2018 therefore exempting the necessity to obtain approval under Section 68 for activities in accordance with Part F5. In accordance with section 166 of the Local Government Act 1993, Council gives public notice that the Byron Shire Council – Local Approvals Policy (2018) as amended is effective from 19 December 2018. Description: At Council’s Ordinary Meeting of 22 November 2018 it resolved to call for submissions on the proposal to name the western section of Heritage Park Mullumbimby the “Maslen Arboretum” in memory of the significant work of Russ and Beryl Maslen in protecting and planting of the park.

A Mandatory Tender Briefing/Site Inspection will be held Monday 21 January 2019 at 9am at the Byron Resource Recovery Centre, 115 Manse Road Myocum NSW 2481.
