LISMORE REGIONAL GALLERY Lismore regional Gallery introduces a playful 2-week incursion into the Exhibition Program. If There’s Something Strange In Your Neighbourhood… explores the gentrification of a squat ter set tlement built in the 70s on a graveyard alongside Yog yakar ta’s main river, Kali Code. In 2013 the local mayor announced he wanted to develop this area and local residents have already star ted being pushed out. Owing to the history of this place, tombstones are still visible in the walls of the kampung (neighbourhood) and ghost activity is abundant. This project was first presented in Ratmakan Kampung as an inf latable ghost house, Rumah Hantu, with an embroidered interior that was created from drawings by the local kids of their ghost stories. Hear Keg De Souza in Conversa tion 11.30am to 12 .30pm, 20 February 2015, as she discusses the ideas, community engagement and creative processes from which this work was built.
