Belinda Jeffery’s latest cookbook Utterly Delicious Simple Food was the prize for Susanna Evington and her daughter Grace. This was all thanks to Susanna’s mum, Jan Walker, who provided the recipe. ‘My Mum made me a book of recipes, this is one from that book and a casserole I loved as a kid’. Belinda Jeffery’s Utterly Delicious Simple Food is the go-to guide for something different and interesting every day. The book can be purchased online or where all good books are sold. able View is a beach suburb situated in Cape Town in South Africa and also the namesake of the latest addition to Brunswick Heads. Table view was also the birth-place of the two bros, Allen and Marc Shubitz, who recently gutted the little eatery Cino Bambino and rebirthed it in its current form. The brothers have travelled far and wide around the globe and see the name as more than just a birthright but as Allen explained to me, ‘a table in a cafe or restaurant when you’re travelling is a refuge to sit and be for a while – to gather your thoughts and in our case we gathered interesting ideas too.’ So, that’s the name explained. While I was banging away on my laptop here, Darren Robertson, one of the chefs of the Three Blue Ducks Farm venture, sauntered in. It looked like a pleasing refuge for him also. I find the food here is imbibed by the boys’ Danish bloodline. You’ll find really clean and clear flavours

and choices. Meet the lads and you’ll agree that they too are sort of refined, definitely slender and polished fellows. Their menu is a melding of their Danish influences along with their experiences travelling and this eloquent temperament they both appear to possess (must be good parenting). Add to this, Marc’s time working in Copenhagen for the Coffee Collective and as head barista in Harry’s in Bondi, and a good coffee is certain to come forth. Marc is clearly into his coffee. Intelligent information is hanging on hand so the cup in hand is explained from origin to
mouth; just look or ask. Allen and Marc lived on a vineyard in Italy ‘where they always served simple food with simple flavours, rough cut tomatoes, oregano, good oil and balsamic, cow’s liver, potato, three or four ingredients per dish with lots of wine, lunch and dinner. We now have a good relationship with local farmers and create seasonal daily specials to take advantage of the tremendous produce we’re surrounded by,’ Allen explained. Danish cuisine is noted an uncomplicated cuisine, smørrebrød for example, is a good rye bread with a seasonal topping. Here, they make their own Danish rye for an avocado,
lemon zest and chive menu item. Local Jersey milk halloumi, the Reuben sandwich, and the black bean corn fritters. Again, pleasantly clean and fresh dishes. A signature organic coffee cherry soda should not be missed - a delicate steep of the coffee cherry husks, subtly sweetened and served over ice. Cold pressed juices and cold brewed coffee with a six hour extraction is an attraction too. Q Table View
