In other surfing news Local surfer Samantha Cornish placed first in her heat in round two at the Roxy Pro at Sunset Beach, Hawaii last week. Cornish defeated Rebecca Woods (AUS), and Rosanne Hodge (ZAF).
Cornish scored a point total of 13.77 moving her toward the final which was a hard fought contest between Samantha, Australian’s Amee Donohue and Jessi Miley-Dyer and Peruvian Sofia Mulanovich, the former World Champion, who in the end beat all three the Aussies in the fourwoman final.

Gold Coast – horse racing Jockey Daniel Baker was last night airlifted to the Gold Coast Hospital after receiving serious head injuries in the second race at Grafton on Sunday. The 23 year old and his mount fell when it clipped the heels of another horse. He was rushed to Grafton Base Hospital, before being taken to the Gold Coast hospital where he underwent Sam Cornish from the World Tour Roxy Pro held at Hawaii’s emergency surgery.
