It was quite the journey to get Halo and as her first set of ET calves hit the ground, next spring I know I will want her back. Halo came to be from an unfortunate situation where her mother Jasmines Jewel (natural calf of Sandeens Jasmine), broker her leg as a heifer after she won Reserve Champion Percentage Female in both Junior and Open Shows in Denver and had to be put down. The team at the University of Minnesota did an awesome job with care and ovary extraction of Jewel and TransOva Genetics were able to secure 7 heifer calf pregnancies from the eggs. Halo, from day one, was always my favorite and as her sisters won Champion Pen of 3 Purebreds in Denver and sold through The One, she was saved for the hill and to put back in the herd. As a young cow, Halo hit her first grand slam with natural son HILB Maverick, the $50,000 homo black, New Direction son owned by Lee Cattle Co, NE. He was definitely a crowd favorite in Denver and is proving to be an excellent herd sire. The following year, her natural heifer, HILB Moonlight Crush B43, also by New Direction, sold for $24,000 evaluation through the 2014 Jewels of the Northland to Lee Cattle Co in partnership. We decided after two naturals that had certainly met the approval of the industry, Halo needed to become a donor. Last spring, she froze 20 and 17 on two separate occasions to 3ml sexed semen and this fall froze 8 IVF after having a Combustable heifer calf in February. Her willingness to give us embryos is why we are offering her for sale. This is a young donor in the very prime of her life, that’s proven she can flush, breed back, and flat make you money. We wanted the opportunity to tap one more time into her genetic potential, which is why we left her open this year. Halo sells open and ready to flush. No hesitations needed here, she can get it done!
