2015 NWSS The One Simmental Sale Monday, January 19, 2015 • Denver, Colorado The Mile High Magic continued as “The One” Simmental Sale Vol. XXII at the 2015 National Western was one for the record books. Before an overflowing crowd, 58 1/2 lots of Simmental and SimInfluenced genetics averaged $15,301. The evening had many highlights starting off with the People’s Choice Power Simmental. The candidates that won their division were Lee Simmental Farm (MO), Springer Simmental (IA), Ruby Cattle CO (IA), Double JR Simmental (UT) Grass-Lunning Simmental (MN), RS&T Simmentals (MO), Springer Simmentals (IA), Oval F Ranch (MO) and Ahlberg Cattle (CO). The Power Simmental is sponsored by Purina Animal Health represented by Paul Hill and Otto Lehmburg and Eberspacher Enterprises Inc. The Purina reps selected the winning ticket of Ruby Cattle CO. and Nate Ruby selected tag 15 Ruby’s Combustible 499B along with $10,000 in prize money. The 2015 American Simmental Foundation Donation Offering was from Werning Cattle Company. W/C Miss Werning 4132B is a beautiful solid black 3/4 daughter of W/C Wide Track 694Y and Miss Werning 132Y. All the funds from this lot go to the American Simmental Foundation ear marked for Junior scholarships. When the gavel fell, the price was $16000 with a consortium of buyers of R&R Cattle CO (SD), Benda Simmental (SD), J&C Simmental (NE), Springer Simmental (IA), John Sandidge Bar QH Simmental (IL), Hilbrands Cattle CO (MN), RS&T Simmentals (MO), Circle M Farms (TX), Hudson Pines Farms, (NY), Kearns Cattle Co/Rockin J Ranch (NE), RJ Cattle CO (SD), Tom Brothers Ranch, (TX) Oak Meadow Farms (MN), Kappes Simmental (SD), NLC Ranch (SD) and Eberspacher Ent Inc. The group donated the female back to the Foundation and when the dust settled, another $10,000 was raised for the Junior scholarships from Jared, Scott, Ashley, Creighten, Thatcher, Jill and Kinley Werning. CJ Brown is known across the country as a fantastic artist who specializes in livestock. She is always ready to help our Jr Associations and once again, created a print with funds going to AJSA Leadership Summit. The printed highlighted the past and present stellar sires of the Simmental Breed. The print sold for $900 purchased by Art Farley of C-Mor Beef (IL) who donated it back and was then purchased by Drew, Holli & Knox Hatmaker (KY) for $800.
