This website will have a section about the basic grammar and vocabulary of Esperanto. It will also promote the cultural understanding that Esperanto hopes to foster. The website will emphasize that Esperanto, because it is a secondary language, allows its users to keep their national and cultural pride, but at the same time appreciate the cultures of others. Those who browse the website will leave knowing that Esperanto is a universal language, and as such helps to create unity among the people of the world.

Need for Secondary Language Education Thanks to high-speed Internet and other technologies, all aspects of human life have become more globalized. Communication between all parties is essential for success in this era. However, Americans are not able to communicate. Only 16% of Americans speak a language other than English at home, and most of the remaining 84% do not even know another language. America is a world leader, but if Americans cannot speak with people from other parts of the world, the nation may lose its great reputation. There is another problem—many Americans do not understand cultural differences, and accidentally offend people from different cultures.

Is there a language that can solve both of these problems, but is also easy to learn and preserves the American identity? There is! This language is known as Esperanto, and Easy Esperanto plans to teach this language to Americans.

What is Esperanto and How can it Help?

The Easy Esperanto Project: Local Programs

In 1887, Dr. L.L. Zamenhof published a book on Esperanto, which was a language he had designed specifically to be a secondary language. Esperanto is the perfect secondary language. Most importantly, it will not compete with English as the primary American language. If a person learned another language, such as Spanish, he would be confused when to use Spanish and when to use English, but Esperanto would be used only when speaking with those who can’t speak English. It allows Americans to communicate, but still keep their identity. Esperanto is also very easy to learn. It requires only ¼ the time as a language like Spanish or French, and its vocabulary and grammar is similar to English. Esperanto is the perfect secondary language for Americans, and Easy Esperanto helps Americans learn this language so that they can communicate with non-English speakers from around the world.

Easy Esperanto plans to teach the Esperanto language to Americans by implementing local programs. These programs will be conducted in cities like New York City, Philadelphia, and Boston, and there will be programs in local towns. The programs will run twice a week for two months. They will emphasize basic grammar and vocabulary of Esperanto, and will focus on the verbal aspect of Esperanto. Students will learn important phrases. The purpose of the programs is to allow participants to communicate if they were to travel to a foreign country. The staff members for the programs are experts in Esperanto. All instructors are certified as passing the Esperanto Advanced proficiency exam. This means that they are completely fluent in speaking, reading, and writing. Easy Esperanto programs are effective in teaching Esperanto so that participants have enough knowledge of the language to get by, and thus help Americans adjust to a changing world.
