Budget 'great news MEMBER for Broadsound Denis Hinton said $10 million set aside in the State Budget for Rosslyn Bay Harbour works was "great news for tourism and great news for the Capricorn Coast". He said Rosslyn Bay was the only harbour specifically named in the budget. "It is tremendous news for Central Queensland and means the start of the harbour's northern wall is certain to start this year," he said. Mr Hinton said the Premier's commitment in the budget was a recognition by the government for the specific case he had put forward for upgrading the harbour and for increased tourism and professional and amateur fishing onthe Coast.

DIVISION one councillor Duncan McDonald has submitted a notice of motion to council which could determine the future of division boundaries. Cr McDonald said this week the motion would be tabled at the September meeting next week. He said it asked council to undertake a review of boundaries and membership level in the shire with a future aim of changing the boundaries in the shire. "Rural areas in division's one and two should be separated from the Coastal urban strip and also look at instituting a ward system similar to Rockhampton's system," Cr McDonald said. Boundaries would be determined with equitable population distribution and by unimproved capital value, he said. "I think it's a good idea to separate the urban and rural areas because it would give the rural areas better representation," Cr McDonald said.
