The East Texas Angel Network celebrates its 23rd year in 2017. We are proud of the work we have done and continue to do for the families of East Texas who have children with life-threatening and/or very serious illnesses. Neal never fails to mention ETAN when he travels the country on his tours. It is his dedication that has enabled us to sustain our efforts through the years. ETAN continues to grow, and we know we could not continue this work without the support of our family and friends both in East Texas and from around the country. Through this support, ETAN is currently helping almost 100 families in the East Texas area. We are so thrilled to have country music group Restless Heart join us this year. Their music is recognizable to any true country fan and they are sure to entertain our loyal ETAN supporters. Neal is, also, proud to be able to bring his good friend Wayne Newton to East Texas for the benefit weekend. The crowd will get to experience a little bit of Las Vegas right here in Longview, TX through Wayne performing some of his music with Neal’s band. Also, Irlene Mandrell, sister to Barbara and Louise Mandrell, will be gracing the stage to sing a few of her songs. This year’s lineup is really special and we are excited to present it to you. As always, Neal and Melinda want to dedicate this year’s weekend to their two healthy children, Miki and Swayde, and especially to their grandsons, Titan Strong (6) and Dash Strong (almost 3.) W W W. Restless Heart
Restless Heart lead singer Larry Stewart can remember the exact moment and place his life began to change forever. “I was driving east on I-40 from West Nashville into town to an appointment,” he recalls. “Back then, I was listening to what we were doing in my Jeep Cherokee every day. I had turned the radio on, and ‘Let The Heartache Ride’ was right in the middle of the acapella intro.” Stewart had been living with the song for a while, and hearing it through his car speakers wasn’t that big of a deal – until he looked at the stereo and saw the numbers 97.9. “It didn’t sink in because I had it in the tape deck for days, then I realized ‘That’s the radio. It’s WSIX.’ I pulled over on the shoulder around White Bridge Road and sat there with my car idling. It was like yesterday.” ‘Yesterday’ has come full circle for Restless Heart. Then one of Nashville’s newest acts, the band is celebrating their 30th Anniversary in 2013, and Dave Innis enjoys the musical ride as much as ever. “I think it’s been an amazing legacy, and it’s been such an honor to have been part of an organization that is still together doing it after thirty years with the same five original guys, and it’s more fun than ever.” John Dittrich, Greg Jennings, Paul Gregg, Dave Innis, and Larry Stewart – the men who make up Restless Heart have enjoyed one of the most successful careers in Country Music history, placing over 25 singles on the charts – with six consecutive #1 hits, four of their albums have been certified Gold by the RIAA, and they have won a wide range of awards from many organizations – including the Academy of Country Music’s Top Vocal Group trophy. Those stats aside, Innis feels that their career goes much deeper than that. “In the past few years, we have really started to branch out in the community, particularly our work with the Nashville Rescue Mission. We have hosted an event called Restless Heart & Friends – Music With A Mission that we do at the Schermerhorn Center with the Nashville Symphony. We invite a lot of our friends in the industry across all genres to join us, and all of the money we raise goes to the Nashville Rescue Mission. The other thing that stands out is the tours we have done in support of the men and women of the Armed Forces. We did some tours with the Air Force, going all over the world.” Those audiences have sung along with their record-shattering string of hits, such as “I’ll Still Be Loving You,” “Fast Movin’ Train” and “When She Cries.” Stewart says it’s humbling to know Restless Heart has made an impact. “I’m proud of the fact that we get to hear stories from young artists and musicians that we might have made an impression or inspiring them to come to town – having number one records, and hearing the stories of what they meant to people. To know that you have been a part of something that made a difference, the power of music, the power of a song. To be a part of something that made a mark. However big or small of a mark Restless Heart made, it’s still a mark. To be able to appreciate and feel blessed that we got lucky enough to get together. I feel like it was something that was meant to be.” And, the story is far from over, as Stewart says Restless Heart still has a lot of history to make. “We are still at the top of our game when it comes to singing and playing together. We’ve got some projects we’re working on, and we want to put the Restless Heart brand out to music fans again – to let them know we’re still here and making good music. We’re really looking forward, not trying to rest on our past laurels, we really want to do some new music. We have some fun things we’re considering to celebrate the moment, which we’re trying to put together, and reintroduce ourselves to the world, and take another stab at something.” Restless Heart – Thirty Years and Those Musical “Wheels” are Still Going Strong!

Recognized worldwide as ‘Mr. Las Vegas’, entertainer Wayne Newton is known for his signature song, “Danke Schoen,” plus many hit singles, including “Daddy, Don’t You Walk So Fast,” “Red Roses For a Blue Lady” and “Years.” He has recorded and released 165 albums to date. Wayne has performed live to more than 40 million people and has performed over 25,000 shows in Las Vegas alone. Without reading a note of music, he plays 13 instruments. Born in rural Virginia, Wayne knew from a young age he wanted to entertain. At age six, he had his first radio show. At age nine he had his first television show in Phoenix AZ, where his family had moved due to Wayne’s asthma. Starting at the bright young age of 15, Mr. Las Vegas performed six shows a night, six nights a week, at the Fremont Hotel. His heartfelt patriotism leads to the very core of who Wayne Newton is. He has entertained troops in every major confrontation our country has been in since Vietnam...and he was there twice. One of Wayne’s biggest honors was announced in October 2000, when Bob Hope and the USO passed the torch naming him the “Chairman of the USO Celebrity Circle.” From 2001 through 2004, Wayne took 16 USO tours overseas. Wayne was the first performer to entertain our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. President George W. Bush honored Wayne at a private White House reception in 2001, thanking him for his patriotism. Wayne has always believed, “Entertaining our men and women of the armed forces overseas has been one of the highlights of my life.” The US Defense Department bestowed upon Wayne its highest civilian award for being the only American entertainer to perform in all of these places, something Wayne is truly proud of. The people of Las Vegas and Nevada have given him their highest honors. He is one of only two people in Las Vegas history to receive the city’s Medal of Honor. He has been named Ambassador of Goodwill for the state of Nevada. The Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport’s main thoroughfare was renamed “Wayne Newton Boulevard.” He was also named one of the “Top Three Entertainers of the Century, in Nevada and Around the World”, along with Frank Sinatra and Elvis. There is a Wayne Newton star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and he was bestowed the very first star on the Las Vegas Walk of Fame. To quote Merv Griffin, “Las Vegas without Wayne Newton is like Disneyland without Mickey Mouse.”
Irlene Mandrell
Irlene Mandrell was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, and is the youngest sister of the world famous country trio, The Mandrell Sisters. Irlene and her sisters come from a musical family. She began playing the drums professionally when she was eleven. Irlene is a Country Music Hall of Fame Walkway of Stars inductee. She has received many awards including two comedy acts of the year awards from Music City News. Though music has always been her mainstay, Irlene has enjoyed an extraordinarily varied career as an actress, model and performer. Her first television series, Barbara Mandrell and The Mandrell Sisters that aired on NBC and also in the UK, had forty million viewers. Irlene’s television credits also include a guest appearance on The Love Boat and appearances on a variety of game shows and talk shows including Hollywood Squares, The Match Game, Tattletales, Password Plus, The Mike Douglas Show, The Tonight Show, Bright Lights & Country Nights, This Week in Country Music, Oprah and many others. She also starred in the country variety series Hee Haw for its last eight years. In addition to her many stage and television appearances, Irlene has enjoyed great success as a spokesperson. She has pitched products to millions of American homes; these products include Swift Premium Brown & Serve, , Smith and Wesson firearms, Lea Furniture, Realtree Accents, Country Crock Margarine, ChoiceDek, Cover Girl and 9 West shoes, Harmony Guitars, Natures youth and Allied Home Medical. Currently she is working on an inspirational book that includes stories about her family. She is also releasing an album with her daughters singing backup and her son drumming.
