Seaside elements for the month of August. The choices are endless with so much inspiration to be found from our East Anglian coast and the romantic nostalgia associated with the seaside and summer fun. From paint colours to bedlinen, from fabrics to furniture, here are a few of my favourites fitting to the theme..... Fenella Fairrie.

Seaside special Deck chairs The candy striped canvas, the architypal English Deckchair, immediately conjures images of picnics, lazy days and a carefree afternoon on the beach. These bold, distinctive stripes on canvas and cottons can be used to great effect in the home on an every day basis. Upholster a chair for a style statement or mix and match cushions in varying designs for instant accents. If you are looking for bold stripes and colours look no further than Malabar. A wonderful array of rich coloured stripe designs are available. Shown here are Zaika and Chiko fabrics which we can find at www.norfolktextiles.co.uk

The pier The great designer Charles Eames created several classic, iconic industrial designs of the twentieth century. One of these design classics is the Eames Eiffel Chair. I totally love this design, it’s shape, feel and form. When thinking about sea side towns and their attractions, the Pier in all it’s Victorian glory springs to mind. Elegant and decorative, flamboyant structure and exquisite metal work, there is a correlation between the classic pier and this design favourite. The originals are but a dream for most however, I am thrilled to have discovered David Phillips Furniture and their fabulous range of ‘Eames-inspired’, affordable and very chic must haves for the home.
