The sun’s out so it must be time to head for the beach. Here’s a few of our favourites… Wide sands at Holkham

Holkham The vast and beautiful beach at Holkham, just three miles west of Wells-next-the-Sea, is part of the Holkham Hall estate. Seven miles long and fringed by pine trees, it is the most extensive, diverse and dramatic nature reserve on a coastline famous for nature reserves. The beach was the setting for the final scenes of Oscar-winning movie Shakespeare in Love, and has been used in the ITV series Kingdom starring Stephen Fry. Frinton-on-Sea Frinton, with its tree-lined avenues and timeless appeal, retains some of the quaint and gracious atmosphere that once brought Victorian aristocracy and royalty to its sandy shoreline. A summer in Frinton is to enjoy the clean, sandy beach and a delicious cream tea. Lowestoft Lowestoft attracts large summer crowds who come to enjoy the town's award winning fine sandy beaches, the two piers, the promenade and visitor centre.

The beach North of Claremont offers bowls, tennis, restaurant and cafés. Beach chalets are available for hire by the day, week or season - but there is a long waiting list. At the South Beach you can have a go at windsurfing, surfing, jet ski-ing and crazy golf, and enjoy the pier and amusement arcades. The town offers a wealth of holiday parks, hotels, amusements arcades, pubs, bars and nightclubs. Cromer A sandcastle builders delight, cosy Cromer is all a beach resort should be. Colourful cliff gardens overlook the stretches sandy coast, where wide open beaches are perfect for a game cricket or Frisbee. The rows of seafront B&B buildings date back to the 1800s, reflecting Cromer's history as a popular Victorian seaside resort. Cromer Pier's Seaside Special is one of the remaining end of the pier shows. Fishing for crabs on the line is a popular holiday pastime in Cromer, and with the town's funfair and canoeing lagoon

there's plenty for the kids to enjoy. There are several small fish shops in the town selling the day's catch, and most of the cafés and restaurants offer crab on the menu.

Felixstowe Felixstowe has the charm of a well-heeled seaside resort and a lively atmosphere. The town's four-mile sand and shingle beach is dotted with beach huts. The many amusements and children's activities along the seafront include indoor and outdoor adventure golf, miniature train rides and a boating lake, slot machines and indoor amusements.

Wells-next-the-Sea At Wells you can either walk the mile-long promenade overlooking beautiful salt marshes, or chug along on the Wells Harbour Railway and let the train take the strain to the beach. The stretch of sandy beach, with its rows of huts, is perfect for beach games. Explore the small towns many shops, cafes and restaurants. Seal watching boat trips to Blakeney are available from the harbour.

Hunstanton Unusually for an East Anglian seaside resort Hunstanton faces west, so summer visitors to the town are likely to enjoy beautiful sunsets over the sea at the end of the day. Mundesley The seafront at Mundesley is lined with colourful beach huts, there’s a beach cafe selling snacks and meals, as well as holiday buckets and spades and traditional seaside trinkets.
