OUR APPROACH Our goal has been to balance hope and concern by taking a comprehensive approach to understanding the causes of issues facing our community and developing effective strategies to address them. EACTC has identified four significant risk factors in Elizabethtown that contribute to the development of youth problem behaviors, including substance abuse and mental health concerns. Elizabethtown Area Communities That Care’s programs and initiatives directly target these risk factors and behavioral concerns using a variety of research-based strategies to effect change in the community and impact youth and families in a positive manner.

"Kids go through a lot. I don't even think we understand all of the things that they go through - depression, peer pressure, alcohol and drug use. It's been a roller coaster ride as a parent to go through their journeys with them and try to be a parent, but set boundaries. To me, EACTC progams have made a difference." - Beth, parent

PREVENTION WORKS Over the past 20 years, EACTC has brought programs and partnerships into the community that directly benefit Elizabethtown youth and families. Since 1999, we have seen a significant impact in reducing negative choices in drug and alcohol use among Etown teens. 2017 PA Youth Survey Data
