Kids on Campus ACT Prep

Sylvan Learning certified instructors will teach a plan that builds the skills, study habits, and attitudes your teenager needs to score higher on test day and apply to college with confidence. Students of all test-taking abilities will benefit from Sylvan’s highly personalized and targeted approach that focuses on the exact skills needed to successfully answer test questions. A comprehensive content review for each of the ACT’s four required tests – English, Math, Reading, and Science will be included. Students will also have 24/7 access to pre/ post tests online with tutorials for one calendar year. Color Your World

Enjoy a week of fun with instructor, Beatrice McEwen. Students will use different kinds of mediums such as watercolors, pencils, pastels, paint, and other materials to create their very own masterpieces. The Secrets of Drawing

Ever feel frustrated because your drawing of a horse or baseball player just doesn’t look the way you think it should? In this class you will learn new techniques to help you draw. You will draw faces, bodies, landscapes, and perspectives. By the end of the week you will feel comfortable drawing anything you can imagine. Slammin’ Jammin’ Guitar Lessons

Whether you are brand new to guitar or need to build on the basics that you have already been taught, instructor John Shepherd will supply you with the tools you need to improve and play like a star! 8 lessons will cover hand techniques, reading music, chording, etc., while working one on one with an experienced guitar player. Incredible, Edible Art

You’ve always heard, “Don’t play with your food.” However, in this class that is exactly what we expect you to do. Grab your chef’s hat, apron, utensils, paint brushes and get ready to create prints, collages, sculptures, and even make some yummy edible treats. Any food allergies should be disclosed at registration. Children should wear clothing that can be washed. Storybook Art

Each day campers will read an age appropriate book together and then do an activity and/ or art project to go along with the book. They will paint with different types of materials. Keyboarding for Kids

We know that kids love computers, but are they typing to the best of their ability? Join Yvonne McCoy to get your campers typing up to speed. Junior Golf Camp

Join Drew Higginbothom, former University of Arkansas golfer, to learn the fundamentals of golf. Campers will work on gripping, swinging, chipping, and putting in a fun and positive environment. This camp is designed for beginning and intermediate players wanting to learn the techniques, as well as the rules of golf. If you have clubs, bring them. Did you ever think cereal boxes, old newspapers, and scraps of fabric could be considered fine art? Create a variety of 3-D objects and learn creative ways to mix and match materials to make artistic textures and patterns. Join Beatrice McEwen, art instructor, as she helps you transfer bits and pieces of different materials into works of art uniquely your own. Animal Art

Basketball Camp

Have fun with Coach Josh Wingo, as he teaches you the basics of basketball. You will work on dribbling, passing, shooting, rebounding, and defense in a fun and positive environment. This camp is designed for beginning and intermediate players and emphasizes learning to play together effectively as a team. Don’t forget to wear athletic shoes, appropriate clothing, and bring a water bottle. Children’s Theatre Camp

Make plans to be a part of EACC’s 7th annual Children’s Theater Camp. This year’s performance will be The Princess & The Pea (Remixed). Once casting is complete, you will become involved with comedy, acting, singing and dancing, as well as staging, scenery design and development. The camp program culminates in a dress rehearsal and a public performance on Friday, July 15th at 6:00 pm. Children must be available to rehearse for the entire week between the hours of 9:00 am - 12:15 pm and on Friday 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Live, Action, Edit

Have you ever dreamed of being involved in movie production? Well now is your chance…..Using state-of-the-art technology, students will be introduced to an entry-level video editing platform. Welcome Summer Campers!! Congratulations to all of the area students that were recommended by their teachers for EACC’S 33rd annual Summer Enrichment Camp! During the week of July 18th - 21st, approximately 100 students from area school districts will work on higher level thinking strategies and group interaction skills where they will be able to use their creative thinking skills to create their very own comics! Students will learn about character development, illustration, and text, while creating their own literary masterpiece. Summer Enrichment Camp is an annual 4-day program designed to provide fun and challenging enrichment for academic achievers entering grades 2nd - 6th.

Kids on Campus Red, Blue, and Purple, too

Instructed by Beatrice McEwen, this creative art class is sure to entice children to explore their creative side. You will explore the design and creative process with paint, sculpting, mosaics, and more. Children will be able to incorporate personal influences into their own unique works of art. Scrapbook Journaling

Make something new from something old. You won’t believe your eyes when you see what can be done with discarded books and a little imagination. Beatrice McEwen, art educator, will show you how to create your very own personal storybook using paper, paint, folding, stamping, drawing, lettering, doodling, stenciling and collage. Adventure Camp

Climb outside of your comfort zone and hang out at the EACC Adventure Training Center. By taking on our state-of-the-art outdoor challenge course, you’ll learn that taking risks, both mentally and physically, is key to achieving your goals. You’ll also strengthen your communication and problem solving skills, while having the experience of a lifetime! Sciensational Workshops

Hands on workshops dedicated to providing the highest quality programs to make science interesting, fun, and educational for children.

Mad Scientist

In this hands-on, fun, and exciting program, you will discover how amazing science is. YOU will make and take home a wide assortment of toys designed to teach you science concepts in a hands-on way. Grow and take home a crystal tree. Make an energy bead bracelet and watch as those amazing beads turn from white to a rainbow of colors before your eyes. Build a working electric motor. Make your own sharpie pen T-shirt and learn some cool chemistry along the way (students supply a 100% cotton T-shirt). Make your own bubbling blobs and explore the properties of a density tube. Prospectors Mystery Rock

You are going to be a prospector (you know those people who were always looking for gold). In this workshop you will get to excavate for valuable gems, fascinating rocks, and some ancient fossils. What you find is yours to keep. You will get an excavation tool, specimen brush, log book, sorting trays, and labels. We give you hands-on science… Prospectors style – fun – educational – exciting! Motion Commotion

Do you want to design and build things? Well this is the place for you. Build and keep an air powered object that will defy gravity. Build and take home your own car. You will also get to build an Egg Drop Car. Through these three challenges, in one workshop, you will learn about Laws of Motion, Energy, Air Pressure, Friction, Lift, Speed, and Acceleration. Adventure Training Center The Adventure Training Center provides the ultimate training experience for building a successful team and improving self confidence. Participants will strengthen their communication and problem solving skills while developing their leadership potential. We tailor the level of challenge to meet the specific needs, desires and physical abilities of any group.

Eastern Arkansas Literacy The Eastern Arkansas Literacy Project’s mission is to provide high-quality, private, and confidential tutoring services to adults in an effort to improve their basic reading and writing skills. Classes are also provided for students who want to develop their speaking, writing, and reading skills in English. The Literacy program at EACC serves clients in St. Francis, Cross, and Lee counties.

Interested in Becoming a Literacy Tutor? Become a volunteer literacy tutor and teach an adult to read, write, or speak English. No foreign language skills are necessary. Training is available.

Personal Interest/ Senior Sage Conditioning: Boot Camp (HPR 1422 C1)

Boot Camp is a popular class that mixes calisthenics and body weight exercises with cardio and strength training. This Boot Camp is designed to be different all the time, and push participants harder than they would push themselves. This class will offer encouragement rather than intimidation. We want you to have tons of fun – but please be prepared for some high intensity training! Yoga is designed to connect the mind and body. This class will focus on strength and balance movements designed to increase flexibility and reduce stress. Dance your way into fitness with this Latin-inspired dance style. This class joins high energy movements with dance combinations to achieve a full body workout. We will start with the basics of sewing like how to thread and care for your machine, how to read, measure, and adjust patterns, as well as layout and cutting techniques. Come learn to sew with us! Canning 101

Do you want questions answered about safe and correct methods to can and learn about food preservation? Ever considered entering items in the fair, or be a judge? Arkansas Food Preservation: Introduction to Canning is the first step to help you accomplish these goals. The course covers the basics of as well as the science behind food preservation with a focus on canning. It covers jams and jellies, pickling, tomatoes, fermenting, and pressure canning. Beekeeping Short Course

Learn everything you need to know to begin keeping honey bees safely and successfully! This three evening course will teach you about the bee hive and other equipment, honey bee biology and behavior, how and where to get your bees. You will also learn about seasonal colony management, how to harvest your bees honey and beeswax, control any bee hive pests and disease and the laws and regulations for your hives. Classes are free and open to the public, but registration is required to ensure sufficient materials for all participants. No live bees will be used in this class. Join Bill Cooper, National Photography award winner, as he walks you through all aspects of photography and more. Sessions will include portraits, landscapes, still life, photojournalism and more depending upon the needs of the students. You will learn tips and techniques to produce quality photos. Medicine Ball Training

University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service is offering Medicine Ball Strength Training. The program will focus on resistance, balance, and flexibility exercises. Benefits include: increased muscle mass and strength; improved bone density and reduced risk for diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, depression, and obesity; and improved self-confidence, sleep, and vitality. Nutrition information will be provided for a whole health perspective. Classes are open to men and women. Professional Development Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Recertification

ACLS is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, system of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. ACLS is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies. Pediatric Cardiac Life Support (PALS) Recertification PALS uses a series of stimulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics. Healthcare Provider CPR

The Healthcare Provider course teaches CPR skills for helping victims of all ages (including ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen); use of an automated external defibrillator (AED); and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). This course is intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a wide variety of settings. Paramedic Refresher Course (EMT 2503 CE)

This course follows the USDOT National Standard Curriculum and provides 48 hours of refresher training. Information provided assists Arkansas certified or nationally registered Paramedics to meet recertification requirements. Pre-registration is required. Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Refresher Course (EMT 1501 CE)

This course follows the USDOT National Standard Curriculum and provides 24 hours of refresher training. First Impressions Guest Service Training

Tourism is one of Arkansas’ top industries with nearly 26 million travelers spending $6.7 billion in 2014. The Welcome to Arkansas Education program began in 2009 in response to research showing that front-line personnel were unable to provide activity recommendations to travelers passing through their areas. Participants will gain guest service skills proven to boost business profits and contribute to the success of local economies and the state’s tourism industry. Registration

Classes are filled on a first-come first-serve basis, and early registration is encouraged. Please note that fees are due upon registration to reserve a space in a class. A student is not officially enrolled in a class until payment is received.

Cancellation Policy

A 100% refund is given when a course is cancelled by the College. EACC reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment. Refund checks are ususally mailed within two to three weeks.

Refunds

A transferable voucher may be given for the amount of the class if a student cancels 48 hours prior to the start of the class. *excludes Summer Enrichment Camp*

All students must register and pay all course fees prior to the first day of class.
