Personal Interests & Senior Sage Equine Classes Basic Equine Principles & Techniques (AGN 1102 C1)

This course provides basic principles involved in handling and training horses with an emphasis on the historical perspectives and technical development of the unique cooperation between horses and humans. In addition, the course will cover equine behavior patterns and training philosophy, evolution of horsemanship, development of training equipment, alternative equine health care and therapies. Western Riding Techniques II (ANG 2112 C1)

This course will teach western riding techniques and equitation riding to students with little or no previous experience. Students will develop their skills through practical experience and will have individualized equitation lessons in a group setting. Conditioning for Horse and Rider (HPR 1011 C1)

This course will provide the basic understanding of the development of sport specific strength, neuromuscular strength, power, and speed for both horse and rider. A progression of basic exercises and techniques will be presented to maximize individual performance, minimize injury, develop, and maintain a safe and healthy horse and rider. This course will offer basic riding techniques related to the physical challenge of developing new muscles and the mental challenges of trail riding. Art Classes Photography: Basic and Beyond (BUS 1191 W1)

Join national award winner, Bill Cooper as he walks you through all aspects of photography and more. He will help students learn how to use their equipment. Sessions will include portraits, landscapes, still life, photojournalism, use of macro lens, and more depending upon the needs of the students. This course introduces students to the Internet and email. Students will learn to search for stock quotes, airline schedules, news, weather, online newspapers, etc. The use of search engines, downloading, sending attachments, and email are covered. Microsoft Excel for Beginners (BUS 1621 C1)

Microsoft Excel is perhaps the most important computer software program used in the workplace today. That’s why so many workers and prospective employees are required to learn Excel to enter or remain in the workplace. Students will create and edit basic worksheets and workbooks. This course is designed for students who want to gain the necessary skills to create, edit, format, and print basic Microsoft Excel worksheets. Yoga

Yoga is designed to connect the mind and body. Instructors will lead participants to focus on strength and balance movements designed to increase flexibility and reduce stress. Run for Fun

Do you want to get fit and improve your health? Get off the couch and join this group to find the better you! Beginners to marathoners all welcomed. This class holds you accountable for achieving the goal you have always wanted. Paige Laws will lead the way showing proper stretching and breathing techniques, the importance of cross training, and even the correct running gear that is needed. This class will offer two meeting times. You pick which time is more convenient. You will have to run on your own during the week to achieve the goal of running a 5k. Have you ever considered publishing a book? Forrest City native, Dr. Stuart Towns will walk you through the steps. Dr. Towns, a 30 year teaching veteran, has published five books. This course will cover working with an editor, finding an agent, acquiring a publishing deal, self-publishing, getting distribution and promoting your book. Learn to communicate in the manual-visual mode and receive instruction in learning the alphabet, vocabulary, whole number system, and elementary conversation. How can we best understand the role of religion and spirituality in the world today, and how should we interpret the meaning of religious and spiritual traditions -- their texts and practices -- in history and culture? Dr. Bill Buchanan takes you on an exciting tour through selected themes and puzzles related to the fascinating and diverse expressions of religion and spirituality throughout the world. From politics and pop culture, to religious philosophies and spiritual practices, to rituals, scriptures, gender, religious authority, and more, students will explore how these issues emerge in a variety of religions, places, communities, and historical moments in the U.S. and across the globe. Boater Education Course

Anyone born on or after January 1, 1986, and of legal age to operate a motorboat, must have successfully completed an approved Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Boating Education Course and carry proof while operating a motorboat on Arkansas water. The law also affects operators of sailboats. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a signed parental consent form to participate. Registration is required. AR Concealed Carry Course

Taught by certified concealed handgun safety instructor, Buck Morris, this course offers a safe, friendly environment for Arkansas residents to qualify to conceal a handgun with a permit (license). Classroom experience and firing qualification (to be held at a local range) meets the requirements of Arkansas Act 419 of 1995. If you have ever read a book and wish you had someone to discuss it with or want to broaden the types of books you read, this club is for you. This course follows the USDOT National Standard Curriculum and provides 20 hours of refresher training. Information provided assists Arkansas certified or nationally registered EMT-Basic to meet re-certification requirements. Pre-registration is required. The Healthcare Provider course teaches CPR skills for helping victims of all ages (including ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen); use of an automated external defibrillator (AED); and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO). This course is intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a variety of settings. The Adventure Training Center provides the ultimate training experience for building a successful team and improving self confidence. Youth Horseback Riding

Perfect for horse lovers, this class offers a hands-on learning experience in all aspects of horsemanship. Participants will enjoy being around their favorite animal while learning to care for them and ride them at the same time. Along with daily riding instruction, students learn the importance of safety, feeding, grooming, saddling and stable management. Participants should wear pants and boots. Slammin’ Jammin’ Guitar Lessons

Whether you are brand new to guitar or you need to build on the basics that you have already learned, instructor John Shepherd will supply you with the tools you need to improve and play like a star! A comprehensive content review for each of the ACT’s four required tests – English, Math, Reading, and Science will be included. Students will take a practice ACT Test prior to class starting. This test will be scored and target areas where help may be needed. Students must be from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday, May 31st for pre-test.

Registration

Classes are filled on a first-come first-serve basis, and early registration is encouraged. Please note that fees are due upon registration to reserve a space in a class. A student is not officially enrolled in a class until payment is received.

Cancellation Policy

A 100% refund is given when a course is cancelled by the College. EACC reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment. Mailed refunds are usually received within two to three weeks.

Refunds

A transferable voucher may be given for the amount of the class if a student cancels 48 hours prior to the start of the class.

All students must register and pay all course fees prior to the first day of class.

Continuing Education classes will not meet on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 15th) or Spring Break (March 19th- 23rd).
