ACCESS AND LOGINS

All IIUM students are given a temporary pin number when they first register in IIUM. Students need to activate their temporary pin numbers and create their own secure and strong password.

2. myIIUM student

Students’ matric numbers and activated pin numbers will be used to access most of the systems and applications in IIUM. Therefore, the first thing that you must do is to activate your temporary pin numbers.

COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION

E-mail What is my e-mail address? All students will be assigned an IIUM Live e-mail address. Your IIUM email address is in the following format: username@live.iium.edu.my

For new students, your e-mail address will be assigned to you in 2 weeks-time after your registration. Students have to check their IIUM Live e-mail address at the MyIIUM portal and activate the e-mail address in order to use it. Follow the following steps:

Students who activate their IIUM Live e-mail account will get Microsoft Office for free. Students can download Office 365 and install it on their computers. In addition students will also get 1TB of free space on the OneDrive online storage.

APPLICATION AND PORTAL

The MyIIUM Portal (http://my.iium.edu.my ) is the gateway of information and resources for the IIUM community.

To log into the MyIIUM portal, use your matric number and password. The figure below shows some of the services and applications accessible through the portal:

iTa’leem (http://italeem.iium.edu.my) – the e-learning platform for lecturers and students of IIUM. To access the website, use your IIUM E-mail username and password.

NETWORK AND INTERNET ACCESS

IIUM provides wireless services for students to access the Internet and online services. How do I get Wireless (WiFi) Internet access? IIUM offers wireless Internet access across the campus through the SSID or WiFi network name “IIUM-Student�. To get connected to IIUM-Student, follow the following steps:

Teaching and Learning Software

IIUM students are eligible to download and install GENUINE copies of Microsoft software and developer tools for FREE from the Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) / DreamSpark: Microsoft software for teaching, learning and research. What is DreamSpark for academic institutions? DreamSpark for Academic Institutions is a Microsoft Program that supports technical education by providing access to Microsoft software for learning, teaching and research purposes.


How do i get access to DreamSpark?

For students, after you have activated your IIUM Live e-mail address, you will receive an e-mail from DreamSpark, which will give you instructions on how to activate your Dreamspark account. After you have activated your account, you can access the DreamSpark website to download software

ICT Help & Support

ITD provides a one-stop ICT Customer Service Unit (ICervU) located at the ground floor of the ITD Office:

Opening hours: Monday – Thursday: 8.30am – 12.30pm, 2.30pm – 4.30pm Friday: 8.30am – 12.15pm, 2.45pm – 4.30pm

The One-stop ICT Customer Service Unit ( ICervU ) provides a central point of contact for IIUM staff and students to report all IT problems, queries and service requests associated with the services provided by ITD.


Self-service Service Desk System We provide a self-service Service Desk System (i-SDS) for you to request an ICT service or lodge a problem with us. The i-SDS is accessible at:

http://servicedesk.iium.edu.my/portal.php Submitting a ICT service request Step 1 – Go to the self-service i-SDS portal, choose “I am a student of IIUM” and click Next>>.


Step 2 – Fill in your username (matric no) and password.

Step 3 – Create a new ticket.


Step 4 – For “Please select a category of report”, choose “Submit a request for a service” in the drop down box.
