Throughout human history, fashion has been a symbol of social status1, a way to express oneself, and an idea linked to self-perception and belonging2. Fast fashion3 has been leading the clothing industry in recent years, but sustainable fashion4 (aka slow fashion) has been getting popular among millennials5 and gen Zs6. Sustainability has not only become trendy, but it is now necessary for environmental survival. Nonetheless, there has recently been a growing global awareness9 of the environmental impact of clothing production and waste, the quality of the material used, and the labor source10 used during manufacturing11. Food for Thought: Fast fashion rose in popularity throughout the 1990s and 2000s. Companies kept producing clothes without thinking of environmental consequences and knowing that their products could never satisfy consumers chasing the latest fashion trends. A suggestion for one who might impulse shop is to consider before buying, "Would I wear this piece of clothing at least 30 times?"
