Dyserth Bus Service

Many Dyserth residents got behind a letter writing campaign over the summer to bring about changes to Arriva’s bus services 35 and 36 in the village. The community council have worked tirelessly on this for some years and recently the newly formed Dyserth Business Community added their weight to the campaign.

After sending the Dyserth letters to the UK Head office for Arriva, we wrote to Welsh Government minister Julie James to ask for her input. We received a prompt reply explaining that as Arriva are operated commercially they are free to set the timetable, route and fares on these services. However, it seems that Denbighshire County Council do have powers to provide bus services under contract that might fill gaps on routes such as this.

The number 19 bus service, operated by P& O Lloyd is actually one of these and stops down by St Bridget’s church and on Dyserth High Street. Its current timetable is now providing 4 trips a day and Dyserth Business Community are contacting P & O Lloyd and the county council to discuss maintaining the best service possible for the village.

The Welsh Government’s Public Transport & Integrated Transport Division have also promised Dyserth Business Community that they will consider the points raised by us when working with the local authorities over the next few years on detailed proposals to improve the local bus network.

Any local businesses interested in joining the group could either contact a High Street business or email dyserth.business@outlook.com
