Women’s Institute (WI) Sefydliad y Merched (SyM)

At our July meeting [the last before our summer break] we had a most interesting and amusing talk about Greenfield Valley Heritage Park followed by a fascinating outline of the myth and legends surrounding some of the native plants in our gardens.

Although this was our last meeting before our summer break there is still much going on. We are about to use the next Craft evening [ 26th July] to make a new banner to advertise forthcoming events such as our successful coffee morning. In the absence of Jacquie this session will be lead by Kath.

On the 26th July we will also be having a rearranged visit to Rhyl Lifeboat house with an opportunity to look around the current lifeboat.

In August we have our annual educational trip. This time we will be going to a Glass Blowing Centre to see a demonstration and have a tour around the factory. In addition, Kath is looking to arrange a fun afternoon of 10 pin bowling. Our Walking group will continue to meet during August and details will be posted on our Facebook page and also circulated by email.

17th August is the Denbigh and Flint Show and members are submitting items for a variety of the classes: cakes, preserves, craft items and artwork. Good luck to any member having a go – remember points make prizes. Hopefully we will be a winning Federation this year.

We are looking forward to when we meet again in September as we will have an exhibition of Flamenco dancing from Flamenco dancer, Christine Stockton. Will we have an opportunity to have a go? We don’t know yet but some of us have definitely got our fingers crossed.

Have a wonderful summer break, hopefully the weather will be kind.
