We ‘hibernate’ in Summer!

Those with good retentive memories will recall that our DTMCG were organised to visit the Llaeth y Llan Yoghurt factory and of all unexpected things to happen, my wife and I were unable to join our own group visit on the day! I had a very nasty experience that found me in Bodwyddan Hospital on that day and for a further seven days in all. I won’t succumb to my generation’s desire to tell you all about my health except to tell the amusing story of my faint.

I have had a lifetime phobia of needles and yukky things medical. The nurse was trying to put a canula into the back of my hand and I passed out. Rotten for the poor nurse and she had to get assistance to get this silly unconscious man onto a nearby bed. Later during my stay I was explaining my phobia to another nurse who may have had her mind on other matters!

I told her how, as a child, I had hated it in church with the nails through the hands and a nail through the feet and had always fainted. Her reply is going to be one of those tales that I tell for a long, long time. She asked “Why did they do that to you”. I promise you she was a Welsh gal and presumably not of some exotic religion outside Christianity. I think her mind was just elsewhere.

Before I forget – the visit to the yoghurt factory was a huge success and it is good to know we have such a lovely venue right on our doorstep. So thank you Llaeth y LLan.

Tuesday mornings during the summer are very quiet without our usual meetings and speakers – hence I call it our summer hibernation!

Our new season opens with the interesting tale of ‘The Canadian Riots at Kinmel Camp’. No - this is not France – this is gentle calm beautiful North Wales but yes there were very serious riots some years ago. Come and hear all about it if you are free on Tuesday 3rd October and I promise you we have a great programme for each following week.

See you 10.15am next October 3rd at Dyserth Community Centre, Cwm Road, Dyserth. LL18 8BD Michael Corfe, Secretary DTMCG, 01745 585110
