Fr Timothy Lipscomb R.I.P
Fr. Timothy retired from St. Bridget’s on 31st December 2022. We are beyond devastated by his untimely death on 11th July after a short illness.
One of our earliest memories of Fr. Timothy was before starting his sermon said ‘I hear there was a dreadful storm last night. I didn’t hear a thing. Must have been something to do with the 2 Margharitas I had at the BBQ next door!’
Very early on he opened a birthday list - declaring that ‘birthdays are a God-given gift which should be celebrated.’ So everyone in the congregation received a card each year.
He opened the sickness lists for all who requested prayers - whether churchgoers or not.
We soon realised that we had some someone special - different. We have wonderful memories of fun, laughter, outstanding performances in the pulpit leaving us laughing - and sometimes tearful - but always leaving us with thought-provoking words for the week ahead.
He showed us - and the outside world, what joy it is to be a ‘community of worshippers’ who, not only take care of each other, but reach out as well, resulting in the growth of numbers attending during his time at St. Bridget’s. He made each and everyone of us feel wanted, loved, important and needed.
We will always remember his faithful and enthusiastic Ministry amongst us; for his counsel, advice, concern, friendship, kindness and humour
He will be sadly missed.
