Timothy Huffman III has been in love with music since he was three-years old. The Miles College Junior says he started playing the drums in his home church when he was six or seven and hasn’t stopped. Huffman founded the Official Clutch Band in 2011 in the basement of his home shortly after Christmas. He plays the drums and keyboards with the group and is celebrating quite an accomplishment this year. The Birmingham native and his band released an Album last year entitled “Good Vibes,” which he says he selling extremely well.

Once Huffman finishes college he hopes to work fulltime as a professional artist and also teach music to other young people in the future. He says, he hopes to “impact the world by playing music and inspiring others (to) keep doing what they do and strive for greatness.” Huffman’s advice to young people, “always keep God first, be open minded, never give up, and be in position for greatness.” We definitely see great things in Huffman’s future and wish him all the best as he and his band continue to pursue their dreams!

The musically gifted young man says the most influential person in his life is Dr. Frank Adams Sr. who has been a mentor to him for years. Huffman is also proud to have been a member of the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame education program. Timothy Huffman III Official Clutch Band Founder

The story of Black History Month begins in 1915, half a century after the Thirteenth Amendment abolished slavery in the United States. That September, the Harvard-trained historian Carter G. Woodson and the prominent minister Jesse E. Moorland founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History (ASNLH), an organization dedicated to researching and promoting achievements by black Americans and other peoples of African descent. Known today as the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), the group sponsored a national Negro History week in 1926, choosing the second week of February to coincide with the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. The event inspired schools and communities nationwide to organize local celebrations, establish history clubs and host performances and lectures.
