In 1949, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA, USA) organized the “Prize Designs for Modern Furniture” to encourage the best of contemporary design by exhibiting the most notable examples in the furniture industry thereby stimulating production by manufacturers for the mass-produced market. Seven decades later, Dynamic Events Limited and the Malta Business Review are relaunching this historic event on the local marketplace. The idea of the competition was to draw the attention of technicians and designers from all over the industry to produce new and fresh ideas leading to the manufacture and wide distribution of a new type of furniture, décor and lighting for today’s new homes.

EVALUATION CRITERIA AND JUDGING
The awarded products are selected by a jury organized by the Selection Board, together with Dynamic Events Ltd and the Malta Business Review. The jury deliberately uses subjective and aesthetic criteria in its selection. First and foremost, Dynamic Events Limited and the event sponsors see the award-winning products as having an influence on design development in the present or near future.
