SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS Springfield is the state capitol and the 6th largest city in the state, being the central trade area for 23 communities in a 50 mile radius. Springfield is rich in history with Abraham Lincoln historical sites and Route 66 attractions. Between Springfield’s historical interests, various downtown festivals, and the Illinois State Fair, more than 1 million people visit our city each year. Springfield recently ranked #29 in the country of “greenest” cities, and construction of the new Southwind Park begins in Spring 2008 which will be one of the greenest parks in the nation. Downtown Springfield is seeing tremendous growth and opportunity as the Southern Illinois University Medical School provides the largest medical training base south of Chicago and as a push toward urban renewal in the downtown district is gaining momentum, with new shops, restaurants, museums, and residential living space being planned and opening. Springfield is a city on the rise!
