DR MATTHEW LOMBARDI Becoming Practice Principle of North Queensland Family Dental in April was a career high for Dr Matthew Lombardi, who has always had a passion for dentistry. Generally speaking, Dr Matthew Lombardi is pretty easy-going, but when it comes to dentistry he’s a bit of a perfectionist. “It’s a very rewarding profession in that you can make a difference in people’s lives,” Dr Lombardi says. “Having the opportunity to mould North Queensland Family Dental into the vision we have for it is very rewarding.” North Queensland Family Dental is a new practice… but with plenty of familiar faces including Dr John Pulvirenti, Karen Ward and Carla Lejarraga. Together with Dr Lombardi the team is dedicated to providing a fun, family friendly, professional practice that caters for every dental need from a basic clean to extensive cosmetic work. Dr Lombardi attends to general dentistry but also has a keen interest in orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry. “It’s a great feeling to boost a patient’s health by improving their airways with some of our latest orthodontic and sleep apnoea treatments,” Dr Lombardi says. “For other patients, an aesthetic treatment such as straightening or whitening their teeth, can make all the difference.” When he’s not treating patients as practice principal, Dr Lombardi takes a role in the day-to-day managing of the practice. “We take a holistic approach to our services. I consider my patient’s whole facial profile and listen to what their eventual desired result is rather than just fixing a single issue,” Dr Lombardi says. “My goal is always to give our patients the best and most comfortable dental experience possible. I want patients to walk in knowing that it’s possible to have a pain-free dentistry experience these days.” Hailing from Ingham, Dr Lombardi comes from a typical extended Italian family. “Dad is a painter, like many of the men in my family, and Mum has worked in the same clothing boutique at a shop in Ingham for over 40 years. They both always encouraged me to further my studies and not become a painter. Dad ensured this by taking me out to paint on my school holidays and giving me the worst jobs he could think of.” Dr Lombardi and his wife Candace love living in Townsville close to their family… and the great food they cook… “I’m not too bad in the kitchen myself and will spend a whole weekend making a really good feed,” he says.
