It is who we work with that has the power to elevate our work and ambitions to produce the best results. Partnership is and has been part of our story from day one - it is how we first met. From how we operate together, to the businesses and brands we collaborate with - partnership offers a new avenue of opportunity for everyone to benefit from. To celebrate and champion this way of thinking, this year we have decided to collaborate with a prevelant artist that also looks at creativity from a different perspective.
Our featured artist Hormazd Narielwalla Hormazd Narielwalla is a London-based artist who works in collage. Narielwalla uses found materials; bespoke Savile Row tailoring patterns, and their antiquarian and contemporary trade counterparts, to create artworks exploring the body in abstract form. His artwork propose a new interpretation of tailoring patterns as interesting abstracted drawings of the human form. He has collaborated with numerous organisations and brands such as; The V&A, the Saatchi Gallery, Paul Smith, The Serpentine Gallery; Jigsaw; Tiger of Sweden; Hyatt Regency London and more. We appreciate Hormazd’s take on heritage, redefining and changing the way in which we see the human form in conjunction with a lost craft. His materials are given a new perspective and purpose.
Hormazd Narielwalla is as much a magnificent narrator as he is a skilled tailor of intricate visual stories. His latest project - Paper Dolls brings together a collection of his signature abstract collage works on vintage sewing patterns, alongside a set of six figurative self-portraits. The book is inspired by an encounter in the streets of Soho, where Hormazd found himself delving into the mysteries and contradictions of identity in a multifarious world, taking the viewer along with him on his journey of people, places and portraits.
