CONTACT CLOSURE INTERFACE

DMX CONTROL INTERFACE

QSE-10

QSE-CI-DMX

The QSE-IO Control Interface provides integration with third-party equipment requiring contact closure inputs (CCIs) or contact closure outputs (CCOs). One QSE-IO Control Interface provides five CCIs and five dry CCOs. Provides both normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) contacts for outputs. CCIs can use contact closures in third-party equipment to trigger system events (e.g., turn on lights, close shades, adjust HVAC) and can use contact closures from motion sensors, occupancy/vacancy sensors, timeclock events, mechanical switches, A/V equipment, and security systems. CCOs can be used to control shades/draperies, motorized projection screens, skylights, A/V equipment, security systems, movable partition walls, timeclock events, and LEDs and lamps (for status indication).

The QSE-CI-DMX performs different functions depending on the system in which it is operating. The DMX channels (maximum of 32) QSE-CI-DMX are mapped to HomeWorks QS zones and can be programmed as 1-channel lighting, 1-channel integration, or 3-channel RGB/CMY. The QSE-CI-DMX can be used to map any HomeWorks QS zone to any single DMX512 channel. The QSE-CI-DMX can also be used to simultaneously map any HomeWorks QS zone to three DMX512 channels for RGB/CMY colour-control. The QSE-CI-DMX has an integral RGB/CMY lookup table that maps HomeWorks QS zone intensities to RGB/CMY values. The RGB/CMY lookup table can be customized by using the HomeWorks QS programming software.

QS Hybrid repeater

QSM3-XW-C (non-wired) | QSM3-4W-C (wired and wireless)

HQK-REP

The QS Sensor Module (QSM) is a ceiling-mounted device that integrates Lutron wireless and wired sensors and controls through the Homeworks QS communication link to Grafik Eye WS control units, Sivoia QS shades and draperies, and more.

HomeWorks QS Hybrid Repeaters add wireless Radio Frequency (RF) communication and extend the range of RF signals that are sent between dimmers, switches, keypads, visor control receivers, shades/draperies and other devices. Repeaters ensure error-free communication between system components and prevent interference from neighbouring systems.

Uses Clear Connect RF technology for communication with Radio Powr Savr occupancy sensors, daylight sensors and Pico wireless controllers. RF Range: 60 ft (18m) line of sight, or 30 ft (9m) through typical construction materials. To ensure optimal wireless range, install the QSM in the ceiling in a visible position from inside the space. QSM connects to four Lutron wired sensors or controls (does not apply to wireless only models). Each input can accept one of the following: ●● Lutron EcoSystem wallstations ●● Lutron occupancy sensors (LOS- series) ●● Lutron daylight sensors (EC-DIR- series) ●● Lutron EcoStstem infrared (IR) receivers (EC-IR, EC-DIR- series) ●● Lutron Wired Pico controls. Powered by the QS link - no line voltage connections are required. Dimensions: 103 x 103 x 30 mm (w x h x d)

The first repeater connects to the Homeworks QS processor to provide RF communication that extends up to 30ft (9m) in every direction. Up to 4 Hybrid Repeaters can be used per link to extend the RF range for larger system applications. Each Repeater has an RF range of 30 ft (9m) between repeater and devices or 60 ft (18 m) between repeaters, covering a total area of approximately 2500 sq ft (232 m2). Dimensions: 108 x 133 x 27 mm (w x h x d)

DALI LIGHTING SYSTEM

WIRING DALI LIGHTING SYSTEMS WHAT IS DALI? The Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) is an international standard that guarantees the exchangeability of dimmable ballasts from different manufacturers. This gives planners, luminaire manufacturers, building owners, installers and end users the security of supply from many sources. DALI Ballasts provide lighting systems with: Simple wiring of control lines (no group formation, no polarity) Control of individual units (individual addressing) or groups (group addressing) is possible A simultaneous control of all units is possible at any time (built-in initial operation function) through broadcast addressing No interference of data communication due to the simple data structure

dali systems have a maximum of: 64 single units* Divided into upt0 16 groups

Control device status messages (lamp fault, etc) and report options (such as all, by group, etc) Automatic search of control devices

*Single addresses

Simple formation of groups through flashing lamps Automatic and simultaneous dimming of all units when selecting a scene

DALI key information Safety distance of interference voltage

two-wire control lead Two base-isolations should be provided between two leads. A single-threaded isolation of a lead is therefore sufficient. Control and supply leads can be wired together, but must have a minimum lead diameter according to the following table:

A safe operation is guaranteed by the large-scale interference voltage distance between the sender and the receiver side.

Lead length

Data Coding

Up to 100 metres

0.75 mm2

The Manchester Code is used, as its structure allows the detection of transmission errors.

100 - 150 metres

1 mm2

Over 150 metres

1.5 mm2

Minimum lead diameter

Revertive signals of information For example, on/off, actual brightness of the connected lamps, lamp state, are all possible. Potential free control input The control input is separated galvanically from the mains voltage. Consequently, all system participants may be operated with different outer conductors (phases). No termination resistors required It is not necessary to terminate interface leads with resistors. Dimming range 0.1% - 100% - the lower limit depends on the manufacturer, though the course of the dimming curve is standardized and adapted to the sensitivity of the eye. Voltage supply Interface voltage is 16 V, ranging from 22.4 V to 9.5 V.

The selection of wires must be adapted to both the length of the connection and the existing terminals. To enable a correct recognition of the information level at the actuators, a maximum voltage drop of up to 2 V is allowed across the connecting wires from the interface supply to each system participant. The supply interface may be installed anywhere in the system or in any device. Due to the low transmission rate there is no need to use special cables or wires, such as twisted or shielded cables. Installation material of commercial quality can be used for the connection between wires and units.

maximum lead length between 2 connected systems must not exceed 300m

ABOUT THE DIAGRAM

DBCDL0X

This drawing provides a brief overview of how the individual units, or ‘addresses’ are wired in a daisy-chain format using DALI Bus cable, and connected to the control system. We have included both Lutron and ABB KNX systems on the diagram for illustration purposes, but only one system would ever be installed in a single premises. ABB KNX supports DALI Emergency lights, though Lutron does not.

CHECKING & DOCUMENTATION COMPLETING THE FINAL CHECKS The following points should be documented during the final check of a DALI lighting installation:

DALI fIELD RELAY DBEA DAFR Fifth Light’s Field Relay provides ON/OFF control and network connectivity in order to conserve energy and effectively manage the lighting system. The Field Relay uses advanced switching technology specifically designed to handle the large in-rush currents and inductive loads found in lighting applications. Key Features: ●● ●● ●● ●●

Integrated DALI communication interface connects to Eaton’s Fifth Light system or any other DALI System for ON/OFF control of lighting and/or receptacles Universal Voltage Input (120V - 347V) Designed with safety in mind, a loss of power on the DALI bus will automatically set the relay to the closed (ON) position Rated for Lighting and Receptacle loads

Dimensions: 79 x 79 x 39 mm (w x h x d)

DALI FINAL CHECKS Has the installation been executed in accordance with the regulations for mains voltage and checked? Has the maximum line length between first and last DALI components been adhered to? This is 300m, as the maximum voltage drop on the DALI line must not exceed 2V. Has the maximum number of users been adhered to? This depends on the DALI control device used. The DALI standard specifies a voltage of 225 V and current of 250mA. The electronic DALI consumers represent a maximum consumption of 2 mA. Check that all DALI operating devices switch to maximum luminous flux when connected to the mains.
