Master Gardener Series: Fall Foraging • Adults

Ross Johnson will present on foraging. Duluth and the surrounding area provides a rich landscape for finding food and there is much to learn about the bounty this land has to share. Registration is required (to receive the Zoom link) at duluthlibrary.org.

Adventure Book Club: The Lost Supper • Adults

Meet at the Lincoln Park Pavilion to discuss Tara Grescoe’s The Lost Supper: Searching for the Future of Food in the Flavors of the Past. We will discuss this world tour of archaeology before setting off on an optional, gentle hike led by Duluth Parks and Recreation. Registration is required.at duluthmn.gov/parks.

Pumpkin Palooza • All Ages

Celebrate fall with a pumpkin-themed storytime at 10:00, followed by drop-in pumpkin decorating and fun from 10:30 and on. B-Y-Opumpkin if you have them. The Whole Foods Co-op will share a limited supply of pumpkins—first-come, first-served. All painting and carving supplies provided. Presented in partnership with Duluth Parks & Rec.

Oferenda Frames: Celebrating Día de Muertos

Decorate a special picture frame to honor a departed loved one and add it to our community display. Bring a photo you would like to use—staff can make copies of originals, and all supplies are provided. Drop in anytime! We will gather in the Local History Center, on the 2nd floor of the Main Library.

Play & Learn for Family, Friend, and Neighbor Care Providers

Are you caring for the children of a family member, friend, or neighbor? Join us for a fun-filled morning of reading, singing, and playing together with the little ones in your care. Meet other care providers and learn about how you can support skill-building and learning. All participants will receive free books, supplies, and snacks. Both children and their caregivers are welcome!

Mini Monster Mash • Birth to Pre-K

Celebrate Latinx Heritage Month and Día de Muertos with colorful crafts. Learn about traditional Repujado (embossed), art, craft corazones (hearts), paper flores (flowers) and more!

Tinkercad 101: Make Your Own Jack O’ Lantern

Learn how to navigate and use Tinkercad, a free online 3D modeling software, that allows you to create anything that you can imagine. Suitable for ages 13 and older, through adult.

Heck of a New Deal: Federal Arts Projects in MN • Adults

Incorporating humor and history, Sue and Brian Matuszak will talk about Minnesota’s artists and the public artworks they created throughout the Arrowhead during the Federal Art Project in 1935. Many pieces are still around to see, while others have mysteriously (and not so mysteriously) disappeared. No registration needed. Tues. October 8 5:00-6:00 pm Green

Leveraging NaNoWriMo to Write that Book • Adults

Prepare for National Novel Writing Month with local author Gina Ramsey, who used leveraged NaNoWriMo to complete her first book, Burnt Gloveboxes: Embracing Life When It Goes Up In Flames. Gina is dedicated to supporting fellow writers by connecting them with experts in writing, publishing, and marketing.

Skincare that’s sustainable! Create your own natural makeup remover and washable cloth wipes. This program includes handsewing and measuring, with assistance from staff if needed. Exclusively for ages 11-18. Space is limited, registration required.
