Editorial
Sequel is an annual literary arts publication featuring the collected work from the student body of Dulaney High School (population 1.859 students/ 170 faculty). e magazine is managed by students enrolled in the Advanced Creative Writing course. e class, operating as a staff, meets bi-weekly to recruit, collect, and critique submissions to the magazines, in addition to crafting their own work. Separate literary and art staff review submissions anonymously, determine acceptance to the magazine based upon artistic merit. Dedicated to celebrating and cultivating the creativity of all Dulaney students, Dedicated to celebrating and cultivating the creativity of all Dulaney students, Sequel not only makes inclusion a mission but a priority. Inquiries about submitting to the 2022-2023 edition of the magazine may be made to sequelmagazine@bcps.org. Submissions open in September and close in February. In addition, the magazine offers a writing and art contest that runs from October-January of every school year. e theme of the thirty fourth edition of Sequel, “Lost and Found”, was developed by literary staff member Sarah Garman. e cover art was created by Design Editor, Anning Cui, while the staff photos were shot by art staffer, Payton Pan. e magazine is printed in Playfair Display and Adobe Caslon Pro: Titles are in e magazine is printed in Playfair Display and Adobe Caslon Pro: Titles are in Playfair Display 30 point font, bylines and page numbers are Adobe Caslon Pro 12 point font. e cover stock and paper stock are both 60 lb., coated, measuring 8.5 x 11 inches in dimension. e magazine was produced by Anning Cui, Art Editor-in-Chief Maggie Else, art staffer Abbey Hochrein, and adviser, Meekah Hopkins. “Lost and Found” was designed on both Windows and Mac laptops, using the Adobe Photoshop CC. Sequel Sequel is printed by School Publications Company, in Neptune, New Jersey. 50 hard copies were sold to the public for $10, as well as offered digitally via Issuu for a small donation to fund next year’s publication.
