T
he Toyota Camry has always been a reliable vehicle at a great price, but now the popular midsize sedan has been given an aggressive new look - one that only DUB can pull off. We talked to a few people involved in the vehicle’s design of the new Camry to find out more about the new iteration. Toyota has quite a few great vehicles that we’ve got pretty intimate with, including the latest Sienna minivan, which we transformed into quite a beast any of us here at magazine would roll in, with the family or ridin’ solo. No doubt, anyone that knows him can tell you that Kid Ink is living life in the fast lane, running at Full Speed, which just so happens to be the name of his latest release. To celebrate, he treated himself to two speed demons – a Corvette Stingray and a Lamborghini Huracán. Both would make you want to mash the pedal to the floor, but it’s the Stingray that gets his heart racing. Growing up, the West Coast rapper always wanted a Corvette and now he’s living the dream with his very own tricked out Stingray that he plans on further modifying to look more like a Batmobile. Ludacris has also released a new album, which is his first since 2010, so fans are extremely hyped that Luda is back on the music scene in a big way. You’ll also be able to see more of Luda in Furious 7, so it’s looking like a huge year is brewing for the rapper. He’s spreading the love and helping DJ Infamous become the next household name in hip-hop. The two are not only great friends, but also love cars and we caught up with them to talk about their latest purchases. Tyrese also stars in the new Furious 7 movie and is currently into creating bespoke Sprinter rides that are more private jet than people carrier. With the help of Chalmer’s Automotive, he was able to transform a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van into a Rolls-Royce Ghost Sprinter.
For our LFTD&LVLD readers, we have all the info on Keg Media’s latest custom – a 2014 Toyota Tundra built for Robbie Bryant’s wife Keena. Nicknamed “Aphrodite,” the Tundra is dressed up in a striking teal wrap and adorned with special mods that Keena picked out herself. DUCK DYNASTY I have to admit, before seeing Willie Robertson’s piece in Issue 92, I didn’t know what the “Duck Dynasty” hype was about. After reading his interview, I was intrigued about the show and caught a few episodes. Now, I’m totally hooked! And I’m hooked on his trucks that he showcased. I’ll take his 2014 Chevy Silverado Z71 4WD Crew Cab “Commander Series Concept Truck” because I’m a Chevy man all the way! I’m actually thinking about getting some Bushwacker Pocket Style fender flares and a LINE-X Body Armour exterior similar to his. Looking forward to the new season of the show, too! Not many knew what the show was about, but were intrigued after this issue hit the stands. We’re all about featuring people who love rides and Willie was one of those peeps. We can’t decide whether we like his Ford or his Chevy and think they’re both awesome trucks we’d love to go hunting in! And, yes...a lot of readers have requested a feature for Uncle Si also!
DON’T TELL ‘EM Man, I couldn’t get enough of Jeremih’s “Birthday Sex” when it came out and now it’s his “Don’t Tell ‘Em” that I’m jamming to these days. DJ Mustard really made a dope beat and is probably why it’s such a success. But his whole album is pretty fly, too, especially with French Montana, Trey Songz and Flo Rida on it. Out of his two rides, that 2014 Rolls-Royce Wraith is what gets my heart pumping, while that all-white SLS isn’t that bad either. LaTonya Pasadena, CA Yeah, we remember bumping that jam of Jeremih’s in the office, too, LaTonya! That was the jam and his “Don’t Tell ‘Em” is pretty hot right now. We knew Jeremih could rock a stage, which is why we had him perform at a couple of recent DUB Show Tour stops and just had to feature his rides when we heard about what he was pushing these days.

First off, I’m a huge fan of the magazine and that widebody Corvette C7 was straight wet! The antifreeze green paint job with the color-matched brake calipers and the Forgiatos are perfect. Being a pure fan of American muscle just made me bookmark that page cuz I keep coming back for more!
Baseball is my sport and the Boston Red Sox are my team. Shane Victorino has proven to be a great asset for them and is a great addition to the Red Sox roster, so I made sure to read his piece first as soon as I got my Issue 92 in the mail. I’m looking forward to the upcoming season and hope he can help my team get back on top. His taste in rides are perfect too. Luxury and sporty rolling on Savinis is what I would do to my Benz and Aston Martin if i had the cash...lol! Bobbito Bedford, MA Shane Victorino loves baseball and anyone can tell just by the way he plays the game with so much heart. He’s an asset to whichever team he’s on and right now the Red Sox are the lucky ones that have him. And he’s played for some really great teams in the past, which is just another testament to his worth as a player. As for his rides, well, he has great taste! We’re also feeling his Aston Martin that looks clean riding on Savinis. TOP THREE FASTEST NFL COMBINE PLAYERS GET A PORSCHE 911 BY ADIDAS Adidas announced that it will be gifting players with the top three fastest 40-yard dash times in this year’s NFL Combine with Porsche 911s. However, there’s a small catch to this amazing offer – the contest is only open to prospects who sign with Adidas and they have to achieve their fastest time while wearing their 5-Star 4.0 cleats. The new marketing campaign is a result of Adidas wanting to add more NFL and MLB athletes to its endorsement rosters in the next three years.

owerBass, an industry leader in car amplifier and speaker manufacturing, was given a unique opportunity to collaborate with Sylvania lighting on two booth vehicles at the 2014 SEMA show. As a think-out-of-thebox type of company, PowerBass wanted to do something unique for its SEMA project vehicles, but after a few high-profile project vehicle opportunities fell through and short deadlines to meet, they needed to pull a rabbit out the hat to make something happen in time. PowerBass was looking for something crazy - and in particular an exoskeleton vehicle (which means an exposed frame) to show off the installation and interworking of a PowerBass audio system. After a quick Google search, they came across T-Rex bikes by Campagna Motors in Canada. Patrick Brooks, Western Regional Sales 40 | DUB MAGAZINE 2015
Director for PowerBass, called Campagna Motors and was directed to owner David Neault, and after a few weeks of negotiations, the relationship with Campagna Motors and PowerBass was formed. “Who couldn’t resist partnering up with one of the most sought after ‘big boys’ toys in the world?” says Robin McNeal, PowerBass’ Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Since time was running out to bring one in from Canada, David Neault from Campagna called his dealer in So Cal, T-Rex Boutique Newport Beach, to set up a meeting and work out the details to use their local T-Rex vehicles. PowerBass contacted Vic Ohanes, owner of T-Rex Boutique Newport Beach, and knew right away that this would be a long-term relationship. The No. 1 goal was to create attention-grabbing T-Rex vehicles with a sound experience that could be heard all around the biggest automotive aftermarket convention on the planet. PowerBass knew that that the roadsters command attention wherever
they go and provide users with an electrifying ride, so all they needed was a better sound system. As a prime manufacturer of car audio speakers, subs and amps, PowerBass worked in conjunction with Campagna Motors and T-Rex Boutique of Newport Beach to recommend which of their products would work best in their custom pods for optimum performance. The team worked closely on the project for about six months to get the job done correctly. “Mounting all of this gear in a three-wheelers was nothing short of a challenge from the beginning due to the space limitations of the vehicles,” McNeal mentions, but fortunately T-Rex Boutique Newport Beach had fabricated some custom fiberglass pods to house the speakers. In the end, the pods were able to accommodate some massive sound, and both T-Rex three-wheelers were ready to go for the big SEMA show and were eventually showcased at the 2015 CES show. To make both boom with sound, PowerBass added their XMA-5670IR 5-channel, 1,900W amplifier that powers the entire system. There’s also a S-10T 10” thin woofer under the dash that’s rated to handle 275W RMS and features a single piece injection-molded polypropylene cone
for enhance bass. As for speakers, the T-Rex boasts the company’s 2XL-60.3C 6.5” three-way component system that’s rated at 120W RMS and has a 50/50 paper wool blend mid-range driver with 3” sealed back soft dome mid ; 2XL403 4” two-way coaxial speaker rated to handle 50W RMS; and 2XL-653 6.5” two-way coaxial speaker that’s rated to handle 75W RMS. Other enhancements include special lighting by Sylvania Zevo with 18 individual light strips with a control module and remote that commands the on/off, speed and frequency of flashes. And of course, both three-wheelers can
tear it up on pavement thanks to its 1200cc BMW engine that lets it roar with power. Thanks to the addition of all the PowerBass components, both of the special T-Rex models rock wherever they go! Both Vic Ohanes and Eric Collins, owner of Los Angeles Duplication & Broadcasting, have ties to the entertainment and recording industry so the three-wheelers are seen by influential personalities on a regular basis whenever they show up on Los Angeles and Orange County streets.

FC legend Anderson Silva has made a huge comeback to the Octagon. After what was thought to be a career-ending leg break during his UFC 168 rematch back in December 2013 against reigning Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman. Earlier this year, he returned to the Octagon after 399 days away for UFC 183 against Nick Diaz, walking away with the decision at the end of five rounds. Although it was a non-title fight, it proved that 39-year-old Anderson means business and hopes to return to his former UFC glory, further demonstrating why he’s been given “G.O.A.T” status in the UFC. We caught up with Silva back in Issue 74 to talk about his one-of-a-kind 2011 Chevy Camaro built by West Coast Customs, who modified it to be Silva’s own version of Bumblebee from the Transformers. The bright yellow Camaro was given a Street Scene body kit and and widebody with quarter vents, shaved door handles and custom front vented bumper and hood, in addition to air actuated pop-up lights on the top rear quarter panels and front fenders. Rounding out the exterior modifications include a set of color-matched Asanti AF150 22x9 front and 22x11 rear wheels fitted with Continental Extreme Contact DW 265/30R22 front and 305/25R22 rear tires. To provide it with some extra boost when he’s cruising the streets in his native Brazil, an Injen intake system with Flowmaster performance exhaust system was added, while the crew at West Coast Customs custom-built an air ride suspension. Some black SS rally stripes makes it look fast even while standing still. Inside features personal touches such as a black suede headliner with the Anderson Silva logos on the headrests and custom-illuminated “Silva” in the door sills. And because Silva likes to drive listening to his favorite jams, West Coast Customs made sure to add a top notch audio system to his Camaro, boasting a Pioneer Avic-Z1 in-dash HDD navigation and multimedia receiver with DVD with Direct Digital component speakers, subwoofers and amplifiers.

id Ink is living life in Full Speed, which just also happens to be the name of his third album (the second on a major label). The self-proclaimed speed junkie likes to live in the fast lane and his latest rides reflect his inner speed demon. The rapper recently added a 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray and 2015 Lamborghini Huracán to his garage. And although both are impressive two-seaters anyone would want to have in their garage, it’s the Stingray that makes him want to push the pedal to the metal.
The Stingray sits on a gloss black set of 22” Forgiato Undice-C wheels outfitted in 245/35R22 front and 295/25R22 rear Nitto tires.
As his dream car growing up, Kid Ink always pictured himself behind the wheel of a Corvette and was finally able to make that dream come true recently. “I fell in love with the ’67 Stingray because it looked like the Batmobile to me,” the 28-year-old rapper declares. “The Corvette name is pure American muscle and it’s a car I’ve always wanted; it really makes a statement. I like being out of the box and that’s exactly what this car does for me.” The Lamborghini Huracán is also an incredible beast of a machine in Kid Ink’s eyes and mentions that he likes to take it out when he wants to be more flashy, while the Corvette is all about raw speed. “I prefer the Corvette more when I want to go fast. The Huracán is more flashy and a status symbol that is just as fast, but I tend to be more careful driving it.” DUB MAGAZINE 2015 | 53
Because the two are already automotive beauties straight from the factory, Kid Ink didn’t want to overdo it with modifications and entrusted his two rides to Roadstarr Motorsports to work some subtle magic. And since no new ride should be without some custom wheels, the 2015 Huracán’s wheels were powder coated gloss black, while the Stingray also received a gloss black set of 22” Forgiato Undice-C wheels outfitted in 245/35R22 front and 295/25R22 rear Nitto tires. They also added a red accent on the wheel cap, painted the inner barrel red and dressed the hood with a red and black stripe to contrast from the white paint. But Kid Ink doesn’t mind getting additional mods on his Corvette later on. “I look at cars the way I look at shoes - sometimes you overwear them and you need to change it up with new editions, I’ll probably change up the paint later. I’ve always wanted my own Batmobile so look out for more Batman-related theme in the future.” Aside from Corvette and Huracán, his garage houses the new 2015 Cadillac Escalade and a 1972
Chevy Nova which he has owned since high school and is currently being restored to its original glory. “It’s crazy to still have that car now,” the L.A.born and raised lyricist says. “I’m almost 10 years deep with the car. I’ve had others since then, but I’ve never wanted to sell it even though people are always hitting me up to buy it.” Another reason why he won’t sell his Nova is because it reminds him of where’s he’s been and how far he’s come. Like many others, he became interested in music in high school and would have fun with his friends freestyling, busting rhymes in rap battles and making mixtapes. 54 | DUB MAGAZINE 2015

While his crew all concentrated on rapping, Kid Ink figured someone needed to make the beats and got his start as a producer. It wasn’t until he was producing for well known artists like Nipsey Hussle that he knew he wanted to extend his talents. “I realized after joining others on their mixtapes and producing them that when it was open verse time and no one else was ready, I always had something to throw in and just went with it. Then after getting praise from other people and the fans, I felt it was the inspiration I needed to continue with it.” And the rest is history with Kid Ink who is now situated as one of hip-hop’s rising stars. While his previous album My Own Lane was all about him trying to find his own path in the industry, this new album shows his growth and confidence as an artist. “Full Speed is all about the lane I’m taking over,” he reveals. “You can hear how confident I am on this new album and I’m not really thinking about the pressure of the first one and who Kid Ink is. It was more about having fun, and I definitely had a lot with this album for sure, especially when putting features together.” The album is filled with hot collaborations from the likes of Chris Brown, Usher, Tinashe, R. Kelly and DJ Mustard, making for cruise-worthy tracks and club bangers galore. According to Kid Ink, he really took his skills to new heights for the this album, getting more lyrical and grittier on tracks that people will vibe to in any occasion. Even though Full Speed just came out, Kid Ink is already thinking about his next album and always 56 | DUB MAGAZINE 2015
has his imprint, The Alumni Music Group, at the back of his mind. It’s something he has to do if he ever wants to achieve his goal of becoming a household name. “I want to have Kanye West’s status – someone who doesn’t have to worry about staying relevant because they’re already a brand that people know about no matter what. I want to get to a point where Kid Ink is a household name and right now I have to lay the groundwork for that, so I have to keep on grinding.” And if he continues grinding at Full Speed, we’ll be sure that Kid Ink will be a brand that people know about no matter what!

The bones on my right hand are the most distinct, followed by my back piece because it was a really cool and thought out, and the bat on my face which represents my crew. What other tattoos are you getting and where? I’m gonna finish hitting the side of my head and maybe start doing my own tats. But I’m gonna practice on my thighs first so that people can’t see my early work, lol.

L
udacris is no stranger to fine rides – after all, he has an ongoing role in The Fast and the Furious movie franchise, so he knows a few things about hot cars and mods. But these days, the hip-hop artist’s car game is limited to only a choice selection of rides. “I’ve evolved and don’t want to be as flashy anymore,” the 37-yearold rapper admits. “There was a time when I had 10 cars and then realized that I’m gone on tour half the time so it doesn’t make sense to have them sitting in my damn garage.” And Luda has had just about every kind of car you could think of - from a green Cadillac with TVs in the steering wheel to even a few Fast and the Furious trucks that he bought from the movies (noting one in particular with the Louis Vuitton pattern on the exterior, which was a favorite). “I’ve had so many different vehicles that I just wanted to condense it down to what I use most. I have the starting five now, sort of like the NBA. And I’m totally cool with just five rides.” But don’t think that Luda’s starting five are just any kind of rides because if it’s one thing Luda
likes, it’s luxury vehicles. Taking up space in his garage are a Bentley Continental GT convertible that’s blue and nicknamed “Papa Smurf,” Ferrari 458 Italia, BMW Alpina B7, Range Rover and his Acura Legend, which was his first car before he became a household name in the rap game. Currently, he’s switching off between the Range Rover and the BMW as his daily driver, preferring the extra space of the Range to accommodate his family. “I love Range Rovers for their durability. I think most people don’t use Range Rovers for what they are fully capable of. I’m one of those guys who’s a thrill seeker and I really use my Range and its all-terrain ability. I’m not just a traditional ‘get a Range Rover and throw some wheels on it guy,’ but actually use mine the way it’s meant to be used.” Taking a page from Ludacris’ less is more approach in the vehicle department is his close friend DJ Infamous (Calvin Donald), who currently boasts four different rides at the moment: a 2007 Cadillac Escalade, 1972 Chevy Chevelle, 2006 Dodge Charger and a 2014 Nissan Quest. “The DUB MAGAZINE 2015 | 67
Escalade is special because it was my first major purchase after becoming a world renowned DJ back in 2007,” he says. “I like the particular body style from that year and just upgraded it a bit with rims, interior modifications and other things to swag it out.” His Escalade features a more aggressive stance thanks to a Belltech 2/4 drop kit, while a set of 26” Savini Solaro wheels in brushed silver and color-matched face with chrome lip complements the exterior. The windows were tinted with LLumar film and a T-Rex Upper Class mesh grille and side vents makes Infamous’ Escalade unique.
Since no DJ can live without some loud beats, Infamous made sure to upgrade the Escalade’s audio so that he could test out new jams while cruising the ATL streets. The crew at PTAP (Perfect Touch Automotive Playground) in Columbus, GA hooked him up with a JL Audio system that boasts a W1v3 with a JK250/1 amp in a custom-built fiberglass enclosure by PTAP’s lead stereo installer Chris Hancock. “The custom sub enclosure has the name of my single “Double Cup,” which was No. 19 on the urban music charts in 2013 and it glows in the dark. The Escalade has a lot of sentimental value for me.” When Infamous wants to let loose a bit, he’ll take his 2007 Honda 450R out for a spin around his block. But Infamous isn’t about having what everyone else has and had the guys at PTAP swag it out with custom-built adapters, sprockets, suspension, high-performance clutch kit and added some massive 28” DUB Ballers. “I wanted big rims just for the awe factor; you never really see anything like that around,” he says. Despite being new to the car game, Infamous is hoping to learn more about the automotive world from Luda and is looking to add a Lowrider to his arsenal fairly soon. “My dream ride has always been a Lowrider on hydraulics just like how the West Coast guys have them. I know it sounds crazy but, I want one so bad and hope to customize it to fit my swag.” Ludaversal Ludacris is really looking forward to a huge 2015. Not only does he star in the latest Fast and the Furious installment, but he also dropped his eighth studio effort after taking a musical hiatus to devote more time to his movie career. “I haven’t dropped a studio album since 2010 and that’s the reason why I released the six-song EP, Burning Bridges, back in December. I wanted the fans to familiarize themselves with me again and let them know how hungry I still am.” The EP was Luda’s precursor to the album, Ludaversal, which will feature the hit single, “Burning Bridges.” And according to Luda, the new album will be filled with a lot of good energy. “It’s like the old Luda mixed with some new hits. 68 | DUB MAGAZINE 2015
As far as the album title, it’s a play off of my name and the world ‘universal,’ ‘cause I’m saying it’s my world as I rap about my personal life and being the Luda everybody loves.” The Luda everybody loves is also a Hollywood celebrity, with his next gig Furious 7. “Man, the ride has been great for me; it’s been so much fun,” he says. “When we’re on set, it doesn’t even feel like work.” Although 2015 is mainly devoted to his music, Luda will still have his eye out on the prefect part since he’s always looking for various roles in whatever genres that peak his interest. But at the end of the day, music will always be his first love because, after all, it’s what initially helped him become the successful rapper we know today. “It’s different being a rapper than an

actor. As a rapper, you have a blank canvas to paint whatever you want – from the beats, to the lyrics and more. But as an actor, you’re just doing one aspect of the whole creative process.” Because the current hip-hop scene has changed since he last dropped an album, Luda knows that fans and music lovers have more options than ever when it comes to music, which is why he’s ready to make a statement with his latest effort. “It only makes me want to go harder,” he admits. “I love competition and definitely love the fact that everyone has upped the ante so anyone can become an overnight success. I have to compete not only against established artists, but those that can come out of nowhere and I’m up for the challenge.” Hey Mr. DJ Helping Luda along the way is his tour DJ and friend, DJ Infamous, who has been spinning his tracks since 2011. “We travel worldwide together and he has his own DJ set where I introduce him,” Luda says about Infamous. “He’s a great party DJ and he has established his name as an artist and that’s what I admire most about him. I wanted him to be a part of my team because he was already self-sufficient and had his own movement, which made him stronger as an artist.” Infamous actually interned at Luda’s label Disturbing Tha Peace while in college then worked at a local ATL radio station, so he’s no stranger to the business. He didn’t become serious about becoming a DJ until guys like Jim Jones, DJ Khaled and Young Jeezy pushed him to make his own music and he finally listened and produced his first effort. He later landed a deal with Infamy Entertainment/E1 and his “Double Cup” single helped propel his name in 70 | DUB MAGAZINE 2015

the industry. As he sets his eyes on a successful music career, DJ Infamous is taking notes from Luda’s book. “I learned a lot from [Luda], especially the business side of things,” he says. “He’s into so many things – music, movies, headphones, restaurants – that he’s teaching me about entrepreneurship. He doesn’t really have to teach me anything, but the fact that he takes the time to teach me really means a lot and says something about our friendship. Our relationship goes beyond just me DJing for him and we’ve become like family. He’s a great example of success and I strive to do the same thing.” So as Luda gears up to have a hit year, DJ Infamous is hoping to do the same by putting out more singles later this year as well and maybe even drop another album. He’ll also continue to support Luda on stage at various performances and keep reaching for success like his mentor. “I’m doing everything I can to really make it and take my career to the next level, which is why my schedule is always so full and I’m so busy. When I’m not in the studio mixing records, I’m traveling with Luda and performing with him. And then I’m also DJing and hosting private and corporate events so I’m just everywhere. But I’m having so much fun doing it all and I’m just going to continue to do what I love best.”

T
yrese Gibson is known for his music and his movies, but now he wants to add vehicle customizer to his list of titles. The Fast and Furious franchise star has lately taken an interest in Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans and is looking to create specialized models for those with discerning tastes. Tyrese got his first Sprinter van in May of last year and has since then been very vocal on social media about his love for the luxury van, with many Instagram photos devoted to his unique Sprinter that was specially modeled after a Rolls-Royce Ghost. He’s chronicled many of his luxurious rides with famous friends like Game, Ludacris, Floyd Mayweather, The Rock and more on his many social media accounts, always praising his custom.
Entirely his concept, Tyrese enlisted the help of Jack Chalmers of Kansas City-based Chalmers Automotive, aka the Van Masters, who was more than up to the challenge to make his vision for an over-the-top Sprinter a reality. “I basically kept all the elements of a Rolls-Royce Ghost, but wanted to go with a Sprinter van as the platform,” he says. “So all the luxury of a 82 | DUB MAGAZINE 2015

Ghost was transferred to the customized Sprinter van. I really wanted to be different and wanted something that I’d be more than comfortable rolling in, whether it was on a date, going to Vegas, taking the kids out – whatever.” “He was looking for an automotive designer to collaborate with that would work closely with him and design and build his vision,” Chalmers details. “He wanted to build a vehicle that looked less like a Mercedes-Benz and more like the Rolls-Royces he loves. So when he drove up in it, people would say WTF is that?” Tyrese knew that the build would be a challenge, but also knew that if it came out right, it would be a real game changer. He relayed his vision to Chalmers in detail, working side-byside with him to get everything perfect. “[Van Masters] really know how to accommodate their clients, and I just went through all the details I wanted on it and let them work their magic. But I knew about what was happening every step of the way. I made a few visits to their shop and would Facetime a lot throughout the duration of the build. Even though it was something that had never been done before, they really knocked it out of the park.” The one-of-a-kind ride seats eight passengers comfortably and features premium amenities and accents that you’d expect from a Rolls-Royce vehicle. Birdseye Maple wood with a 4-step polyurethane high-gloss finish was used throughout its interior, with the finish alone taking weeks to complete. A state-of-the-art JL Audio sound and video system is used to entertain guests, complete with TV screens on 84 | DUB MAGAZINE 2015
the sides and back of the interior. The suede star ceiling is lined with hundreds of lights and sets the ambience within the luxurious ride. So that Tyrese can easily control all of the van’s coolest features, Chalmers created a one-of-a-kind RIT system to fit his needs. “The features and benefits of this system are too many to actually name,” Chalmers adds. “I basically runs the entire vehicle from his iPad or smartphone.” And to make it look like a RollsRoyce Ghost on the exterior, Chalmers created a one-off Ghost grille and hood cowls and made special Ghost Sprinter badging. “The overall energy of the Ghost Sprinter is strong and good. Everybody that gets in it gets hyped up about all of its features. It’s like a private plane on wheels and it really provides a first-class experience for everyone. All of my
friends love getting in it for road trips or just to hang out. Man, everybody from Busta Rhymes to Jamie Foxx…there’s too many A-listers to name, but at this point, they all want their own Sprinter Vans.” And many of them have already talked to Chalmers for their very own RR Ghost Sprinters. Tyrese loved his first one so much that back in February, he couldn’t stop talking about his newest ride – a special Voltran Rolls-Royce Ghost Sprinter that builds upon his last one. The newest addition to his garage includes Voltran decals that further denote the specialized Sprinter.

T
he 2015 Toyota Camry is one of those rides that will make you do a double take whenever you see it out in the streets. Its sleek, sexy and bold new style coupled with its exceptional driving dynamics and interior features makes the Camry a serious contender for anyone in the market for a stylish and reliable car at a great price point. The Toyota Camry has been a favored mid-size sedan since it first arrived in the States back in 1982 and over the years became America’s most popular sedan. It was even recognized as a 2014 most popular vehicle on Edmunds.com. Over the last decades, it’s been enhanced and optimized

with every new generation that arises, and its 2015 model is the best version to date. Always well engineered and a quality option for those looking for a dependable ride, the Camry now can add dapper good looks to its long list of desirable attributes. Head-Turning Looks Both designers and engineers worked together to create a bold new statement for the sedan that now displays some serious visual updates that demand respect at every corner. “With each generation, style has become more important, with each new version sleeker and more expressive than before,” explains Benjamin
Jimenez, studio chief designer for the 2015 Camry. “This latest design is a big jump in increasing emotional quality or flavor of the vehicle. It’s the first Camry that you’d describe as having a sexiness to it; a sort of seductive quality to the surfacing of the design.” Jimenez’ team found inspiration in the grace and movement of speed skaters, who portray a sense of power even when they’re standing still. They also studied dynamic speedboats, and even images of cheetahs for their sleek and predatory qualities, which they’ve incorporated in the Camry’s new design.

An aggressive design aesthetic has been used throughout the Camry, but out front, your eyes will first notice the wider sport mesh front grille that leaves one powerful impression (available on the SE, XSE and SE Hybrid models), while the angular LED headlights and LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) ensure you won’t be mistaken for an ordinary ride on the road. The front fascia is then finished off with a splash of chrome to really makes things pop. Additional details like chrome trim around the window frame and a chrome bar across the rear deck lid all add to the Camry’s revised and bold personality.
those strong character lines and those strong looks and shapes that you see, we had to change up our production methods.” Its track has been widened by less than half an inch to enhance the vehicle’s stability through corners, while its steering has been reconfigured for better integration with its electrical power assist system. It’s also now 1.8” longer than before and has body panels that were given additional spot welding, which enhances its overall stiffness. “We improved the way the vehicle handles, its steering feel, the braking – all

We then used Satin Chrome to surround areas of technology like the center stack to give it an artistic quality.” Kaehr also notes that another goal for the interior was to make it intuitive and easy to use, with steering wheel-mounted controls that are convenient for the driver and a safety measure, helping them to keep their eyes on the road while commanding their audio system. “The new TFT and meters are designed for putting information in front of the driver for more convenient driving, which goes back to the car’s overall theme of being confident and natural.” The new Camry also offers a new wireless charging system for smartphones for the first time, which is an innovative feature that was added to reduce cable clutter inside your ride. To juice up your smartphone, simply place it on the charging pad in the center console for easy charging.
“We’re showing a big visual break from previous vehicles in the front end,” Jimenez describes. “It’s what we call ‘under priority,’ a lower grille emphasis that enhances the stance of the vehicle. It’s definitely a confident expression that makes a statement.” Aggressive Design Besides its good looks, the 2015 Toyota Camry rides on a fresh platform, with several changes made to its chassis. “Along with the styling theme, we wanted to make sure that the performance side would match its new look so that it would behave in a more premium and athletic manner,” says Monte Kaehr, chief engineer for the new Camry. “The styling that the Calty design team presented did cause us some challenges since it featured several elements that we at Toyota usually use at Lexus for lowvolume vehicles. We usually don’t have the same engineering methods on high-volume production vehicles like the Camry so in order to achieve

Premium Interior The inside was also given special attention, with the roomy interior boasting new upgrades like sport seats with side bolsters that cradle the driver, paddle shifters (for SE and XSE models), and quality upholstery and stitching that all add to a comfortable cabin and ride for both the driver and passengers. Its center stack makes it easier to access features like its 4.2” LCD touchscreen, radio controls and more. There’s also an abundance of soft-touch materials at strategic places throughout the cabin, along with a larger center console for more storage space.
Safety is a Priority The 2015 Camry really ups its game when it comes to the advanced safety equipment it possesses. Not only does it have 10 airbags, but it also gains available features like a lane departure warning system, blind spot monitoring system with rear cross traffic alert and a pre-collision system that can start to apply the brakes when the system determines that a frontal collision is imminent. Thanks, in part, to these safety measures, the Camry offers enhanced passenger protection.
Drivers will also notice a quieter ride thanks to a sound deadening investment by Toyota, as well as improved aerodynamics, to reduce the amount of noise penetrating from the outside. “[The interior] was really all about quality,” Jimenez DUB MAGAZINE 2015 | 107

The interior was dressed up with color-matched accents, suede and leather trimmed seats with diamond inserts and suede headliner. Adding to its appeal is a banging sound system consisting of DUB Audio products, including (2) DUBw12 subs, (2) DUBa4100 amps, (2) DUBa11000D mono subs, (2) DUBs265 speakers and (2) DUBs257

speakers. A fiberglass sub enclosure was created complete with leather and painted accents. “I loved the fact that you guys lowered it and used bigger wheels,” Jimenez compliments. “As a designer that’s the way we sketched it because the big wheels really set off the stance. I also think that the darkened tail lights are awesome. We were aiming for a lot of confidence and presence and that was really enhanced with the DUB Edition [Camry].”
The Future The 2015 Toyota Camry is definitely a looker and will go head-to-head with other class competitors like the Nissan Altima, Hyundai Sonata, Honda Accord and Ford Fusion. And thanks to its styling and comforts, current Camry fans will love the updates, while new fans will definitely have the Toyota Camry on their radar now that it flaunts premium additions. Both the engineering and design teams are proud of the Camry they’ve created and will carefully watch how the 2015 model performs. They also hope people are as excited as they are about the new changes. According to Jimenez, Calty “will continue to amp up design and keep on designing [future versions] to appeal to consumers’ hearts and minds.” The plush interior is fitted with color-matched accents, suede and leather seats with diamond inserts and a suede headliner.
But for now, let’s stop and admire the 2015 Toyota Camry because it really is a game changer!

Other modifications include a TRD Big Brake Kit with StopTech calipers, DUB Edition mesh grille, smoked rear taillights, tinted windows and a custom Galaxy Grey paint by BASF that further exudes the signature style for which DUB’s builds are known for. The interior has been transformed and is now outfitted with carbon fiber and color-matched accents. with me and told me everything she wanted to do to the truck.” Although he did make some suggestions, in the end it was Keena who came up with the overall concept, colors and parts. According to Robbie, she definitely wanted Addictive Desert Designs’ (A.D.D.) new Honey Badger bumpers, even though they weren’t making them for half-ton trucks like the Tundra. “She told me that we should show them what it would look like on the rendering, which we did and Addictive Desert Designs was sold on the idea.” Once they got the green light on production of the bumpers, they shipped the truck out to Mesa, AZ and A.D.D. created one-off bumpers for Aphrodite.
She also knew she wanted a matte teal metallic paint exterior, but Robbie had no idea how hard it was to find a teal wrap. After much research, he finally found a few samples of Avery Dennison and decided on their Lagoon Blue Matte Metallic color. “Tyler from BSG Wraps connected us with Avery Dennison and it was almost a perfect match to the color she had already chosen on the rendering!” he exclaims. Since Robbie and his Keg Media crew had already built a previous body-style Tundra the year before, they had some ideas about the parts they wanted to use. “I knew that one of the things I definitely wanted was the McNeil Racing fiberglass fenders and bedsides,” he explains. “They give the truck such an aggressive look. It took me awhile, but I finally convinced McNeil to come on board with us for this build. It’s a different style of build than what they are used to with their regular prerunner customers, but it worked out great and the truck has received a lot of attention because those fenders really set it all off.” Once all the additional parts were chosen, Robbie and Keena shipped out the truck once again to have it built by Complete Customs. Both

of their locations in West Texas and McKinney, TX worked on the Tundra, which took about five months to complete before it made its debut at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, NV in the A.D.D. booth. “Aphrodite turned out amazing!” Keena exclaims. “I wanted a Tundra that stood out from the rest and turned heads and she definitely does that. From her body, accessories and color, she turned out absolutely flawless.” “It’s been very welcomed by the public,” Robbie mentions. “The crew at Complete Customs did a great job. We feel we now own one of the nicest lifted Tundras in the nation.” Currently, it’s Keena’s weekend vehicle with the family’s five boys, who are always asking to ride in it. However, it will make some appearances at local shows in the near future. “It’s probably one of the nicest trucks we have built to date,” Robbie declares. “It’s definitely one of the best riding and driving lifted trucks around!”

K
en Mitchell, President of American Fastbacks, knew he wanted to provide customers with a quality product that Jeep enthusiasts would love and appreciate. After working for another aftermarket accessories company and realizing that company’s mistakes when it came to their customer service and production methods, he came to the realization that he wanted to go above and beyond what they were providing and was inspired to start his own business. The idea for his business came about after Ken noticed how Jeep owners wanted to enhance the appearance of their vehicles, but didn’t want to stress over installing or modifying them. “We wanted it to be simple bolt-on products that any DIYer would be able to do themselves,” he says. All products are developed from concept to reality by a collective team of Jeep lovers, hot-rod builders and vehicle manufacturers, resulting in parts that are not only appealing to the eye, but also are practical and functional.
“Our process begins by listening to what Jeep enthusiasts tell us in what they want from a hardtop or expanding on a concept that one of our team members thought up,” he describes. “It then goes from renderings to mouldings and if the product passes our rigorous testing, then we’ll produce it. We are fortunate enough to have a master mould builder and designer that has over 25 years of experience to help us produce the best product available on the market.” Thanks to many of their unique patents, American Fastbacks has become the hardtop of choice for many builders and Jeep enthusiasts who want a simple, yet visually, drastic change in the appearance of their rides. The company actually conducted 17 months of extensive R&D to get their hardtops to where they are at now – spot on, with no leaks and no annoying cabin noise, thanks to their easy-to-install, insulated hardtops.

Another competitive edge that Ken has carved for the company is the fact that all of the hardtops are made in the U.S.A., which not only helps guarantee that his products are made with quality parts and higher standards, but that it also produces quality jobs for many Americans. “We are a multi-generation of proud service members and believe that business owners should be afforded the opportunity to keep their manufacturing here in the United States. Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen as long as manufacturers keep outsourcing their products overseas.” With the future looking brighter than ever and sales pouring in from all over the world, American Fastbacks is looking to open two more distribution centers in the U.S. and Canada. “These strategic locations will not only allow us to better serve our clients, but will moderate the vast fluctuating fuel costs, as well as keep our time from order to shipping within our 10-business-day model.” Ken is also working on adding more products to their current offering, including fenders. “These fenders will allow drivers to fit a 35” tall tire on a stock height suspension,” he mentions. “This is huge! No voiding warranties, no spending thousands of dollars to lift your Wrangler. And we also have a three-piece fastback hardtop on

ilicon Valley showed off its automotive game during the 2015 Silicon Valley International Auto Show at the San Jose McEnry Convention Center in January, and the DUB Show Tour provided guests with even more eye candy from January 8th - 11th. Attendees of the show were invited to check out the latest models of some amazing rides, sit behind the wheel, inspect them from inside and out and more! From updated cockpit conveniences to added safety features and more, the rides at this year’s show demonstrated how far in-car technology has come. he Detroit Auto Show (aka the North American International Auto Show) is one of the biggest shows in the nation and sets the tone for all the others that follow. This year’s show at the Cobo Center featured some of the hottest rides for 2015 - from fuelefficient vehicles that will save you money at the pump to some of the most technologically advanced concepts that can one day become production models. Every car manufacturer was in attendance, showing off their latest and greatest models, new technologies and so much more.
