DUBAI SHOPPING FESTIVAL 2011 Dubai Shopping Festival 2011 took place from 20 Jan to 20 Feb this year with all its buzz and excitement. With a spend and win promotion going on in the mall, customers had a chance to win a luxury car every day. With some thrilling events and entertainment the highlight of DSF 2011 was the STAR HUNT fashion show (Page 40) and the STYLETHON service. We ran the STAR HUNT competition to introduce new faces to the fashion and modeling industry from the normal everyday people while at STYLETHON we gave free styling services to customer done by professional fashion industry experts. Shopping was so rewarding and fun with all the entertainment, stage acts, carnivals and stilt walkers and families enjoyed the season to the max.
MOTHER’S DAY The one week Mother’s Day competition exclusive for our FACEBOOK fans was a big hit with lots of great feedback. Five lucky winners won incredible gifts by expressing their pure love and appreciation for their MOMs in their original touching words that some brought tears to our eyes! EARTH HOUR we are proud to announce our participation in Earth Hour 2011 as part of our CSR initiatives and community act. Earth Hour 2011 took place on Saturday 26 March 2011 from 8.30pm to 9.30pm, UAE local time, aimed to show the actions that people, businesses and governments world-wide are taking to reduce their environmental impact. Therefore Dubai Outlet Mall switched off all the non-essential lights outside the shopping mall, in the parking area, on the roads around the mall and the perimeter lights around this landmark for an hour, which the outcome was up to 20% reduction of electricity consumption at Dubai Outlet Mall at the mentioned timings. We also encouraged all our retail stores to partake in this program by turning off the extra electricity at their premises.

Started on 20 Jan 2011, everyone who aspired to be in the limelight could register for STAR HUNT competition for a chance to be chosen as the STAR in a glamorous fashion show at the end of DSF 2011 by public vote. More than 300 participants from diverse nationalities and different walks of life registered through online or manual applications. STAR Contestants were judged by 3 juries from different related industries: Mr. Salem Khammas, Executive Director of Dubai Outlet Mall judge the contestants on their ability for being an enterprise, Ms. Javeria Pasha, Chairperson of Fashion Design Department, Manipal University, review them on their industry knowledge and confident while Ms. Kavita Srinivasan, Celebrity & Lifestyle Editor for Ahlan Masala, ITP Group judge the contestants on their style, manner and camera friendliness. With audience and customer in the mall voting for each contestant in their respective raffle boxes throughout the 3 hours event, one male and one female winners in 2 categories of photogenic and popularity and a male and female STAR 2011 were chosen viewers vote.
