and Mike Sim - you will be there in spirit I know! My mantra of ‘no stress in my life’ has taken a bit of a battering in the last few weeks as I have been busy putting together a programme for my Captain’s Day...believe me it has not been easy but I do feel like everything is now in place for the day...I think!! What a quick season it has been.... where did the time go? I am now nearing the end of my captaincy. Officially it finishes on August 31st but, our regular golf season really wraps up by mid-June. Competitions continue throughout the summer but numbers are far fewer at that time when we hit high temperatures of 45 plus.

Good luck to all those who brave that heat because it is really too much for me and I have to seek some cooler temperatures elsewhere in the world.

ello my friends. This month sees my Captain’s Day taking place so I hope to see all of you there on the day to support me and, more importantly, to support the Club. I promise you it will be a wonderful day, full of prizes...and surprises and the day is being sponsored by HSBC. The first surprise may well be my Captain’s Day drive but once that ordeal is done then we will move forward to a really fun day followed by a spectacular evening when I hope to be greeting all the players as well as their partners. I can assure you, you will not be disappointed. I really would have loved to have had my good friend Mohsin Al Tajir here for the big day, as well as Past Captains, Mike Gerbich, Rai Legnar

Congratulations to all prize-winners in our Club Championship and special congratulations to our new Club Champion Rayhan Thomas. What a wonderful display of golf by this young man. I think we will be seeing his name in the headlights a lot more in the near future. Kamal Kosta Club Captain 2014-2015

COMPETITION RESULTS MASHREQ MEDAL in association with BMW & Ruth’s Chris Steak House

Waite Wins Monthly Medal The Mashreq Medal for March, in association with BMW and Ruth’s Chris Steak House Dubai, was a closely contested affair with four players tied on the overall winning score of 70 on the Majlis course. Thanks to some very consistent golf on the back nine holes, it was David Waite who took the overall spoils along with the A Division honours (handicap 0-10). Waite made seven gross pars and one birdie over the last nine holes of the Majlis course to secure victory. Also in A Division with net scores of 70 were Qamar Rasheed and Imran Qayyum. Rasheed claimed second place after a card count-back with Qayyum settling for third place.

B Division (handicap 11-20) was won by Rajesh Verma, again with a score of two under par net 70, closely followed by the runner-up Ishu Rupani who scored a net 71. In third place, a further two shots adrift with a net 73, was Tej Chhabra. Christian Klynge was the winner of C Division (handicap 21-28) with a level par net score of 72. The honour for the lowest gross of the day went to young Bradley Mogire who scored a superb score of 75. Bradley is a product of the Club’s Elite Junior Programme who meet on a weekly basis under the watchful eye of our academy team led by Head Professional Stephen Deane. Historic Hat-trick for Young Rayhan Young Dubai Golf member Rayhan Thomas again produced some outstanding final day golf on the Majlis course to add the 2015 Emirates Club Championship to his list of honours. Rayhan has already won the Emirates Amateur Open, the Emirates Junior Club Championship along with the Dubai Creek Club Championship over the past few months. Rayhan becomes the first player on record to win them all in one season, a fantastic achievement by the talented 15 year old.

Rayhan had to come from behind after posting a 75 on day one over the Faldo course. Playing in the penultimate group on the final day, he showed his class over the Majlis by scoring an impressive five under par 67 to record a tally of 142 to win by six strokes. Pontus Fredriksson had a successful attempt to defend the title that he has won five times in the past six years. Pontus carded rounds of 73 and 75 to finish runnerup on a total of 148. A further shot adrift with scores of

qualifying round for the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup. Two places were available for the best net scores, the first being secured by David Waite and the second by Rajesh Verma. Both Waite and Verma will now play on home soil of the Majlis course in the regional finals on April 7th when they will compete for a place in the world finals being held in Istanbul.

75 and 74 to sign for a 149 total was Vice-Captain Johnny Aldridge who birdied the par five 18th hole to secure third place alone. In the net prizes, Division A (handicap 0-12) was closely contended with Kooros Daneshvar producing two level par 72s. Also with a net total of 144 was Tom Luig; however the 72 on day two for Daneshvar was good enough to secure victory over Luig who finished in second place. B division (handicap 13-24) was won by Anil Shivanna who signed for a net 70 followed by a net 68 to tally 138 and to claim top spot by three strokes. The runner-up was Christian Klynge with net scores of 70 and 71 totalling 141. 2015 CLUB CHAMPION: Rayhan Thomas RUNNER UP: Pontus Fredriksson THIRD: Johnny Aldridge DIVISION A (0 –12) WINNER: Kooros Daneshvar RUNNER UP: Tom Luig DIVISION B ( 13-24) WINNER: Anil Shivanna RUNNER UP: Christian Klynge BEST GROSS DAY 1: Matthew Baxter DAY 2: Edward Hesson BEST NET DAY 1: Andrew Robinson DAY 2: Imran Qayyum
