New Dunbartonshire Employer Services Team A NEW employer services team is geared up to help Dunbartonshire businesses with their recruitment and skills needs. Skills Development Scotland (SDS) has appointed Sharita Guy (pictured right), employer engagement adviser, and Alastair Gillen (pictured below), relationship account executive, to give employers more direct support and advice. Operating on a regional basis across local authority areas, they will be on hand to offer advice as and when required. This follows the recent launch of Our Skillsforce, a comprehensive new employer web service which provides easy access to a range of public sector information and support services, to help employers meet their future skills needs. The new team will engage with local and regional stakeholders including Scottish Enterprise, Business Gateway, East and West Dunbartonshire Councils and with the local employability partnership. They will also work closely with organisations which represent businesses and employees, including Chambers of Commerce, the Federation of Small Businesses and the STUC.
Commenting on her appointment, Sharita, who was previously regional manager for the Prince’s Trust for Argyll and Dunbartonshire, said: “I am particularly keen to work with employers and partner organisations in the Dunbartonshire area to promote skills and learning.” Former employee development training officer, Alastair, added: “Our roles will bring together all the key partners across the country to ensure that employers are fully informed of the support available.” Gordon McGuiness, head of industry and enterprise networks at SDS, said: “Continuing to support employers remains a top priority and the restructure and expansion of the team demonstrates our ongoing commitment across the country. “We are thrilled with the calibre of excellence in the team, which will bring together support from appropriate public sector bodies to help make sure the right help is available to employers, regardless of size or location.” More information is available from the SDS Employer Helpline on 0808 100 1090 or at www.ourskillsforce.co.uk.
