Day Tours - No matter where in the world you travel, there’s nothing like having a local to show you around. If you want to see some iconic wildlife on your holiday but aren’t sure where to start, Gold Coast tour operators know all the wow-spots and offer a huge range of trips. They can arrange for you to hand-feed wild parrots on top of a mountain, or go on a night-hike to a waterfall bathed in glow worm luminescence. More interested in marine life? Boat and kayaking tours to nearby islands will introduce you to resident turtles and dolphins. Stunning views come standard.

Currumbin Valley - Just a short but beautiful drive from Currumbin Beach delivers visitors into a green valley bounded by sheer escarpments, dotted with crystal clear creeks and rock pools, cascading waterfalls and picnic spots. The road continues on to Mt Cougal with easy access to a World Heritage listed rainforest walk, taking in the Cougal Cascades waterfalls and abundant native flora and fauna. This pristine rainforest is part of the eastern section of the Gondwana Rainforests and was home to the Kombumerri people who walked it and lived from its plenty for over 60,000 years. Currumbin Valley is also home to The Ecovillage, which has won 24 international, national, state and local awards for its leadership and excellence in sustainable living developments.

National Parks - Driving up the steep mountains to visit Lamington and Springbrook National Parks creates the impression that you’re entering a land before time - and in a way, you are. Living, breathing relics from the ancient Gondwana Rainforests, Lamington and Springbrook have both been World Heritage listed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). This means they are protected as outstanding places of natural and historical value to the planet. A short hike through their lush landscapes makes it easy to see why; the flora and fauna is stacked floor to canopy with rare species, making the area a hotbed for international science and conservation organisations. More than just a magnificent Gold Coast tourist stop, these historic forests are one of the natural treasures of the world.

Walking Trails - Being outdoors and active is a big part of Gold Coast life, so it is no surprise that the region has an unrivalled network of beachfront paths, hinterland tracks and mountain trails. The Gold Coast Oceanway is a dedicated 36 kilometre walking and cycling path which follows the famous coastline from The Spit in the north to Point Danger in the south, taking in a spectacular variety of locations and terrains. The pristine Gold Coast Hinterland is sensitively intersected with a great range of very accessible bushwalking tracks for adventurers at all levels. Features of this environment include ancient volcano lava flows, subtropical rainforest, Antarctic Beech trees, caves, waterfalls, tree-top walks, wallabies, lyrebirds, and so much more.

Sports - The Gold Coast will be hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2018, and though it’s still years away, the city is already buzzing with energy and excitement. If there’s one thing Gold Coasters know, it’s how to host a sporting event - annually, there are over 600 in this city. On any given weekend you can get amongst passionate sports fans, whether it’s watching local teams compete in rugby league and AFL, or seeing celebrity athletes go head-to-head in international competitions like the ARMOR ALL Gold Coast 600, the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro, or the Ladies Masters Golf. If watching the professionals gets you inspired, you can try your hand at rally driving, surfing or golfing.–Lessons in all these sports are offered and there are 40 international standard or championship golf courses in the area where you’re more than welcome to take a swing.

Take To The Sky - Experience the sunrise of a lifetime as you float across the Gold Coast’s famous coastline in a hot air balloon before transcending throughout mountainous ranges scattered across the picturesque Hinterland. Back on land, celebrate the occasion in traditional style with a sumptuous, champagne breakfast.

Pick up the pace and let Gold Coast Helitours take control as you hover above the city’s iconic landmarks, or if airborne trickery is more your style, Tiger Moth Joy Rides represent 70 years of rich aviation history ... and they‘ll have you in a spin time and time again. For the ultimate in high-flying adrenalin set off on your skydive adventure, taking in a bird’s eye view of the city from 12,000 feet before plummeting to earth, landing on the golden sands of Kirra Beach.
