Introduction Doncaster Innovation & Media Centre, a part of CYPS, supports all schools in the borough in the areas of creative ICT, technology and media. The centre employs specialists in each area to support schools through advice, training and projects. This brochure outlines the core programmes in each area and highlights the new bespoke provision the centre is able to offer at competitive costs to Doncaster schools. We can offer more targeted programmes, details of which do not appear in this brochure. For details of this programme email enquiries@doncastersouthclc.net All activities undertaken during the past seven years (as Doncaster South CLC) have been heavily subsidised for Doncaster schools. Following the review of core funding by the Department for Education, it has been necessary to introduce a charging policy to ensure continuity of our service. The nominal charges outlined in this brochure are a feature of a transitional phase to self sufficient funding. Schools will be alerted if there are further changes to provision via our website www.doncastersouthclc.net Booking contact telephone: 01302 313006

TV Studio - Broadcast Curriculum Students investigate and develop their knowledge and understanding of class topic work through co-constructing learning resources. Additionally, they can take an active role using the professional equipment of video based production work. A studio day is intensive learning and revision of class work while making a digital video resource that can be used again in class or later via the web.

TV Studio for teaching & learning Bring your ideas or theme to us and we will develop the appropriate format. Not all students like to perform in front of camera, we can train them to help as technical support. As a centre with extensive technology, we can offer software unavailable in schools as well as access to our TV Studio facilities for the recording of learning content and multimedia presentations. All projects are exported as DVDs for later use and sharing. Teachers can gain confidence in using video to enhance classrooms activity. Our Tricaster Broadcast system enables perfect green screening every time and even simulates 3D studio sets that add to the realism! Examples of selected past projects: Bollywood Stories: Year 5 students script, act, choreograph and dance in two films made in a day Laughing & Joking as They Died: Year 8 students re-enact scenes from a local man’s life using green screen as part of investigations into First World War The One Show (Anti-Bullying Special): Year 6 magazine show with studio pieces, dance, singing and news reports Maths-of-the Day: Year 10 sports students identify and discuss numeracy in sport video clips Environment News: Year 3 present a newscast on green issues with ways in which to reduce, reuse and recycle and ‘live’ reports from the desert, a tropical rainforest and the Antarctic using green screen.

VuTube - Broadcast Curriculum Our VuTube website is a secure online site that enables students to upload their video products to a Doncaster audience and beyond! This is a unique educational social video site that enables students to have their say and debate with their peers about subjects important to them. TV Studio work projects such as iCapture (4 schools taking part in a two-day programme), DB8@South (a live televised debate) and the E-factor (where education meets entertainment) can be shared via the social web, rated in stars or commented upon.

Idea, Plan, Create & Share

Our VuTube website is a complementary resource to our On-Location Movie boxes. As part of the Broadcast Curriculum programme, we can oer workshops in support of video content creation, the loan of video production equipment and a threemonth loan of an On-Location Movie box (see information below). This is essentially a TV Studio for your school! You will be fully supported, both technically and educationally.

Mon-Fri 9.00-3.00

What we want in return is for your students to create videos that represent their voice and opinions to the outside world to enhance their communicative activity in society. A channel of the site is also present for teachers to identify the excellent programmes that take place in their schools and how individuals can transform learning. This may include: use of software, teaching methods or CPD specifics based on tools in your school.

Resources

Although the website is social in nature, allowing comments and rating stars, it is moderated by us at the centre and secure passwords protect user access. Our future development of VuTube will include a live broadcast area and a calendar of up-coming live events!
