Liver Pain Causes

1. Liver inflammation: Inflammation of the liver, also known as hepatitis, can cause pain in the upper right side of the abdomen. Hepatitis can be caused by viruses, alcohol abuse, or certain medications.

2. Liver cirrhosis: This is a condition where the liver becomes scarred and damaged, leading to pain and discomfort. Cirrhosis is often caused by alcohol abuse or chronic viral hepatitis.

3. Liver cancer: Liver cancer can cause pain in the upper right side of the abdomen, as well as other symptoms such as jaundice, weight loss, and fatigue.

4. Gallbladder disease: The gallbladder is located near the liver and can also cause pain in the upper right side of the abdomen. Gallbladder disease can be caused by gallstones or inflammation of the gallbladder.

5. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: This is a condition where fat accumulates in the liver, causing inflammation and scarring. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is often associated with obesity, diabetes, and high cholesterol levels.

6. Autoimmune liver disease: In some cases, the immune system can attack the liver, leading to inflammation and damage. Autoimmune liver disease includes conditions such as autoimmune hepatitis and primary biliary cholangitis.
