BLEACHER REPORT JUNE 23, 2117

The First Woman Is Drafted To The NBA! After so many years of talented women being sent to the WNBA, 6’5” Christiana Hall is the first woman to be drafted to the NBA. Her physical capabilities are almost unmatched amongst her age of 19 year olds. Hall averaged 44.8 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 6.2 apg her senior year of high school, whilst breaking a number of records. Her scouting reports proved to be quite impressive. She was the top player in the state of Virginia. Hall committed to Kansas State University where she blew away the world with her 34.2 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 4 apg freshman season. Following this spectacular season in 2116, Hall was drafted in the 2117 NBA Draft to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The WNBA and the NBA are supposed to be the same thing, but one is for men and one is for women. This is not the case in many ways. WNBA players are on average, paid $4,828,000 less than NBA players. To put this into a different perspective, the WNBA’s (Women’s National Basketball Association) average salary is $72,000 and the NBA’s (National Basketball Association) average salary is $4,900,000. It’s understandable that these men put their whole lives into basketball, so on and so forth, but don’t the women do, too? If the argument is that men work harder, wouldn’t women work as hard for 4.9 million? The Cleveland Cavaliers are Hall’s favorite basketball franchise. Draft night was an emotional one! Hall described the suspense as “heart-stopping” and “exhilarating.” Hall’s /speech was lengthy and strong with emotion. The Round 1, #9 draft pick burst into tears after realizing she was a lottery pick in a man’s league. She continues to say: “this has been a very hard and long journey, and I still have a lot of work to do. I would like to thank my family for being unbelievably supportive and just for being the amazing people that they are!”

Dear Editor,

Hello, my name is Thomas Julion, and I don’t think they should have done this. There’s a WNBA for a reason, right? Women aren’t fit to compete with monsters in the league like Frederick Greud and Yulias Polort. Those guys work way harder and I just don’t think that women will take the NBA seriously. Basketball is really a man’s sport. Women don’t have the physical or mental capability to keep up on the court or the playbook. People don’t want to see no weak women on the court where men dominate. 121 years ago when the WNBA was made, that’s where they should have kept them. Now women are going to think it’s ok to come to the NBA and ruin the intensity of today’s league. I would hate for our NBA men to have to hold back because women can’t take the intensity. Women, you are beautiful. Stay beautiful. There’s no need to try and be men. If women stay in their place, we can prosper as the human race we’re supposed to be! I remember when my father used to tell me that women just want to be men. He told me that “women have been systematically inferior since medieval times.” In order to stay ahead as a man, you have to display your dominance. Let them know who’s boss. I mean, doesn’t everyone takes every advantage they can take? Sure, the girl had decent numbers in high school, but that doesn’t mean a thing. If anything maybe they should just let her be a professional trainer. Maybe even clean the floors or carry the water/towels. The NBA is no place for a woman. If women start taking over the NBA, what will we watch? But I guess it’s inevitable, so I hope Hall doesn’t hurt herself too bad out there. Hey, maybe she’ll last more than one game! Women have some type of nerve!
