A breath of fresh
Warmer weather is almost here, which means thermostats will start circulating cooled air. Making sure the air that circulates is healthy and clean is one of the services offered by TruClean Home Services, a locally owned and operated business. Jesse and Kelsey Jones started their company three years ago. “The importance of indoor air quality is why people need to have routine air duct cleanings”, Kelsey Jones said. “Cleaning your HVAC system can reduce your utility bills, increase the efficiency of your unit and provide relief for allergies or illnesses,” she said. Air duct cleaning is about a two to three hour job. TruClean technicians will clean every vent, all returns, the HVAC system itself and all the duct work. “Indoor air is going to be clean,” Jones said. “Any home naturally accumulates dust and mold over time. Then it starts circulating throughout the house, which decreases the air quality.” TruClean Home Services is also equipped to do dryer vent cleaning and mold removal and mold remediation — which means getting mold levels to normal, natural levels.
Mold Remediation
Mold is one of the leading causes of poor indoor air quality. It grows quickly, may be accompanied by a strong, musty smell and floats in the air where it can attach to clothing and pets. “When there is a lot of rain - like the weather seen in late February - moisture can build up inside HVAC units. Mold growth can cause allergens to fill the air”, Jones said. “A lot of people open up their vents or ducts and find mold in there,” she said. “We live in high humidity, there’s always moisture.” TruClean is PMII certified in mold removal and remediation.

“We get calls from customers saying they’ve been sick, asking us to look at their HVAC unit and see if there’s mold,” Jones said. “People will sometimes see spores on their vents. We usually check the HVAC system first, because that’s where the air circulates and spores get carried through the air. We check closets, attics, basements.”
Dryer Vent Cleaning
Dryer vent cleaning is also an important task not many think about, but a leading cause of house fires is tightly-packed dryer vents, she said. “Most dryer vent fires can be prevented with routine cleaning,” Jones said. “Additionally, clean vents bolster dryer efficiency and minimize energy consumption.” TruClean technicians can clean the dryer vents at the same time they’re cleaning the air ducts. That service usually takes about 30 minutes. The technicians start from behind the dryer and clean the vents from there. “Our equipment includes truck-mounted HEPA-filtered negative air machines,” Jones said. “They’re state-of-theart air duct cleaning equipment.” Jesse Jones has worked with HVAC units since he was 14, his wife said. “He eventually decided to start his own business,” Kelsey Jones said. “He took a bunch of classes and became certified. We’ve grown each year and are continuing to spread. We’re affordable and dependable. We now work in Fayette, Shelby and DeSoto counties.”
