Drew Doscher began his finance career unexpectedly after graduating from the College of Holy Cross in 1991, initially envisioning a future in law enforcement. Raised in Stuyvesant Town, New York, he started working in a financial firm's back office, swiftly transitioning to the trading floor. His early mentorship under Jon Bauer at Oppenheimer & Co. introduced him to the distressed bond and loan markets, paving the way for his distinguished career on Wall Street. By 1995, he had joined Lehman Brothers, working alongside industry leaders and sharpening his expertise in distressed debt. His next significant role was at UBS in 2001, where he established a global distressed trading business, a novel venture for the firm in the U.S. and Europe. This position solidified his reputation, leading to a managerial role at Barclays in 2006, where he developed their global distressed debt business. The 2008 financial crisis prompted many banks to overhaul their strategies, leading Drew to join the then-small Seaport Group in 2009. He transformed it into Seaport Global, significantly expanding its size and scope and increasing its revenues from under $25 million to $125 million. His leadership ensured the firm maintained robust revenues during economic downturns, contributing significantly to its financial success. His achievements at Seaport drew the attention of Jefferies, where he was tasked with rebuilding their reputation post-scandal. He assembled a new team and led a restructuring that safeguarded his department from proposed downsizing, ultimately resigning to protect his team's interests. Drew continued to build credit businesses at BTIG and StoneX, entering markets previously untapped by the firms and fostering their growth into reputable entities in the credit sector. His career has also involved navigating major financial restructurings for companies like Enron and Lehman Brothers and handling high-profile bankruptcies.
