Appendicitis Appendicitis is one of the most common digestive system diseases. Appendicitis is the inflammation of the appendix, an organ that is not necessary for the body to function properly. Once the appendix is blocked by ulcers or fecal matter, the bacteria invades the appendix, causing appendicitis. Once the appendix has been infected, it will fill with pus, and rupture. Appendicitis can be fatal if the appendix is not removed.


Dental Cavities Cavities result in the destruction of the enamel or outer surface of a tooth or multiple teeth. Tooth decay occurs mainly because of plaque, which is the white layer that accumulates on teeth. Plaque accumulates on teeth from the protein in saliva, bacteria, and sugars in many foods. The plaque creates acids that destroys enamel. The decay can reach two levels: the dentin, where the tooth will become vulnerable to temperature, and the pulp cavity, where the tooth would become vulnerable to toothaches. Healthy eating, and brushing teeth can prevent cavities.


Heartburn More than one third of the population suffers from acid reflux, or heartburn. Acid reflux or heartburn is a burning sensation from the chest to the face. When the stomach’s acids “backflow” into the esophagus heartburn occurs. Normally, the lower esophageal sphincter stops the acid, but eating greasy and unhealthy foods relaxes sphincter. Eating healthy foods, and avoiding cigarettes can prevent heartburn.


Ulcers Peptic sores, or digestive sores, are sores that develop on the lining of the stomach. The bacteria H.pylori, emotional, and physical stress causes these sores. The sores cause pain attacks around nighttime. Consumption of citrus juices, coffee, and aspirin make the pain of the sores worse. Antibiotics and other drugs exist to eliminate the bacterium.


How to maintain a healthy Digestive System Practicing healthy habits can protect your digestive system. Here are some steps you can take: Do not smoke cigarettes. Avoid regular consumption of excessively spicy foods. Refrigerate foods regularly. Generally eating healthy foods.
