Fear of Success By: Steven Craig Semones II

always try to be transparent when I do anything and fear is something that we all encounter in every day life. Every one has different fears that they face, but anyone that said they haven’t battled fear, simply are not being truthful with themselves. No one would believe me now when I say that I used to be shy and not talk a lot in elementary school because I was scared what others might think. The moment I faced my fear and stepped in faith was when I was in Ms. Klein’s class in the fifth grade. We were listening to music we were learning to do a music production at the end of the school year. I have always loved music and making people laugh and the song by Madonna came on the stereo Material Girl, and something just shifted in my life. I stood up in a full music class and I started dancing to material girl. The class was laughing, and my teacher and the other students insisted I do this dance in front of the whole school, as well as parents, and faculty the night of this production. I a little nervous but excited said, “Yes!” Every day I would have to practice my routine and the other kids in class couldn’t wait for that number to come up each day in music class. Then the night of

The whole show was going great and the closer it got to my number I started to get nervous, and I felt again the fear trying to come over me. The song started and I jumped out there, started dancing, took my leather jacket off, swung it around my head and threw it into the audience and I don’t remember anything else other than the laughter and the cheers

I feel like we all have many dimensions to who we are as individuals and many never get to truly see there full potential because they let fear hold them back, and that is with knowing as Christians that God does not give us the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. As I prayed about this fear for God to help me overcome it, this is what was revealed to me. It isn’t ever about making lots of money but no matter what you make it is about being a good steward of that money.

When God has made you for a purpose he will provide you with the things you need as you are faithful, and obedient in seeking his will not your own. Fear By: Kevin Mullins hat is fear? FEAR is an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger that can be learned, taught or even developed. We all know that there are various types of fear. Some fears come from events that have happened to us in the childhood stages of our lives, experiences, and psychological disorders. Personal experiences that have scarred and bruised us will leave behind a trademark that seems to be inerasable. The bible states in 2Timothy 1:7 that God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, and of love and of a sound mind. The antidote for fearfulness is within the power he has given you, “THE HOLY SPIRIT!” They’re many individuals who battle and war with struggles that affect them daily, being tormented by a memory or traumatized, causing unhealthy habits which leads to an unhealthy and defeated lifestyles.

W

I believe ultimately in most cases of fear we have today comes from a lack of faith. We are afraid to step out of the boat onto the crashing waves. Have u ever had the fear of success? It sounds a little backwards doesn’t it? So many people are afraid to really step out into what God has called them unto. Success is built on the faith you have to achieve it. The voices that sound like chains holding you down are the vocals of your own perception. For instance when we have an idea that seems to big to accomplish some of the first words we think or say may very well be I CANT DO… but as a believer we must not rely on our own ability but stand firm on the Word of God. In the book Philippians

DREAM

4:13 it states that we can do ALL things through Christ which strengthens me. Do we put our faith in ourselves? Absolutely not!!!!!! We have faith in Jesus that HE will empower us with the strategy to fulfill the mission He has given us. Success can have its own obstacles within itself. The obstacle or stumbling block is designed to distract, hinder and cause you to ultimately give up on the mission at hand. We must keep our heads lifted unto the hills from whence cometh our help because He is the focus of our Faith. When we have a Christ-Focused Faith, fear has to come subject!!!!! FAITH IN CHRIST COQUERS FEAR!!!!!

Overcoming the Fear of the Enemy By: Bobbie Dorsey Young

O

n March 14, 2005, I entered Carolinas Hospital System emergency room because I was throwing up. By the time I got there I smelt like vomit and urine because I couldn’t stop vomiting and couldn’t hold my urine. My heart was beating irregular, my pressure was high this minute and low the next, and my blood sugar was very high. The doctors didn’t know what was wrong with me. They thought I had a stroke or a heart attack, so they put me in the ICU. I started crying and I knew something was very seriously wrong with me and I thought I was dying. When I got to the intensive care unit I started crying and I was so scared. Ten minutes later a patient died and the devil told me I was going to die there also. The next day I took some more tests. Most of the time I was so weak and dizzy I couldn’t remember who was there. I still couldn’t hold my urine and my bowels, I felt like my body was shutting down on me. After being in the ICU for two weeks the doctors found out that I have a massive tumor on my right adrenal glands right over my right kidney. When the doctor told me that I was scared, shocked, nervous, confused, angry and I feared that I was going to die because the devil kept telling me I was going to die on the operating table. Then the doctor told me it has to come out and the tumor is too big for laser surgery and that he has to cut me and my adrenal glands would have to come out also and he didn’t know yet if my kidney had to be removed. The thought of being cut and losing my kidney and thinking about going to dialysis made me nervous and I started thinking about what the devil told me. This was too much for me to handle. All kinds of things ran through my mind. I couldn’t understand why this was happening to me. I knew I had no other choice but to call on the name of Jesus. Every time I got up I would fall and bump my head and I started blacking out so I was confined to the bed. I couldn’t do any-

thing for myself. I had to lie flat on my back to keep my pressure from going up too high. I prayed and I meditated on God’s word. Three people died while I was in ICU. I needed a nurse with me 24/7. The devil wanted me to believe him and doubt God. Every day I was getting worse. I needed the operation right away but the doctor was scared to do it because if he did my pressure would have gone up too high and I would have had a stroke, but if they wait too long I could have a heart attack, so I had to wait another seven days to see if my pressure would return to normal. I was taking six kinds of pressure pills, three kinds of sugar pills, blood thinner in my stomach every morning and I was hooked up to a heart monitor while taking heart pills. I thought I wasn’t going to make it. God whispered in my ears, “I am still in control of your life so don’t give up on me because I will never leave you nor forsake you.” The devil whispered in my ears, “You are going to die on the table.” I was getting so nervous and depressed I felt like giving up. I almost lost my mind, but I knew the only way out of this was to trust and believe in God that he will see me through, so I surrendered everything to him and I kept my faith believing that he will make everything alright. He gave me a successful operation and I still have my kidney. Thank You Lord. If I hadn’t kept my faith in God I would have lost my mind and maybe my life. Lord I think You for helping me overcome

Don’t buy into what others think By: Chris Daigle

T

ODAY'S THOUGHT:

If He was a man of the world, Jesus would have chosen the elite of His day to accomplish His mission — however He used simple fishermen. These men were considered uneducated, lacking "social status", wealth or worldly distinction of any kind — yet these "simple" men were the ones the Lord selected to build the Kingdom of God. When the children of Israel were slaves in Egypt, God didn't send an army to deliver them, He sent a single man. But a single man of God was shown to be greater than the most powerful kingdom on Earth. Throughout the Bible, we read of the Lord choosing and using the weak things of the world to confound and shame the wise and powerful. God seems to love revealing His awesome power through humble vessels, so that no flesh can glory in His presence.

DREAM

Don't allow the enemy to convince you that God cannot use you because you are "flawed", weak, or seemingly inconsequential.

Don't allow the enemy to convince you that God cannot use you because you are "flawed", weak, or seemingly inconsequential. No, instead, remember that He uses the base, despised, nonentities of this world, ordinary, often broken, people…to do extraordinary things. Our God is not looking at your wealth, your social status or your education — He's looking at your heart! If your heart is willing and your life is available, then He is more than able to perform miraculous work through you for His Kingdom's sake. With so much work to be done, don't allow the enemy to stifle or steal the Lord's vision for your life –- He has a plan to use you to confound the wise of this world, and to bring to naught the things that are!

Don’t underestimate the supernatural power of conversion By J Lee Grady The testimony of a former drug dealer from Ohio reminded me this week of the priority of evangelism.

“Sometimes we get so caught up in the hoopla of charismatic gifts— chasing the latest glittering manifestations and the trendiest prophecies—that we forget true conversion is the greatest miracle on the planet.”

Shannon McNeal: A total transformation

When my new friend Shannon McNeal was just a little boy, his older brothers put him in a washing machine, turned on the water and sat on the lid to trap him inside. Another time they taped him in a cardboard box and threw it down a flight of stairs to see if he would survive. And once they put him in the kitchen oven, turned it on and blocked the door with a chair while he screamed. Shannon’s mom wasn’t around to stop the brutality. A single mother, she worked long hours at a Ford automobile plant in Lorain, Ohio, near Cleveland. Her husband had walked out on the family when Shannon was 2, leaving the three fatherless boys to fend for themselves. Without any boundaries, Shannon’s brothers began dealing drugs as young teens, and they threw wild parties in their house while their mother was at the factory.

DREAM

Then a male relative exposed the boys to hardcore pornography. When Shannon was just 6 he was forced to watch pornographic videos; before he had even reached puberty he was expected to act out what he had seen with neighborhood girls. By the time Shannon became a teenager he was drinking, abusing drugs and hanging out with members of the Bloods, a popular gang. The pain and confusion caused by abuse turned him into a ticking time bomb. He was angry and insecure. It was only a matter of time before he would get in trouble with the law. He finally landed in a state penitentiary for a drug-related crime. As is often the case for guys like Shannon, the abuse that marred his childhood continued while he was in prison. Because he is bi-racial (his mother is white, his father black), he was caught in the middle of the fray when racial tensions flared. During his 18-month incarceration, a fight erupted and a white

inmate stabbed him in the back with a toothbrush that had been sharpened into a weapon.

Sometimes we get so caught up in the hoopla of charismatic gifts—chasing the latest glittering manifestations and the trendiest prophecies—that we forget true conversion is the greatest miracle on the Amazingly, Shannon survived the childplanet. I slowly started realizing God’s love through the people from my church that He led me to, and through the drastic changes He was making in me.” I spent time with Shannon this past weekend when I was preaching at Freedom House, a church located in Amherst, Ohio. He’s happily married now, he's starting a business and is beginning to mentor troubled youth. He and his wife have a young daughter. Every door to his past is closed. He’s forgiven the people who abused, neglected or rejected him. He’s a totally new man with a bright smile, a servant’s heart and a loving nature.

Rescuing the lost has always been our mandate, but too often distractions pull us so far off course that we become religiously busy but spiritually fruitless. Of all the manifestations of the Holy Spirit available to us, conversion is the most precious—and the most powerful. In this fresh season of renewal I pray you and your church will reclaim it.

I’m sharing Shannon’s story because many of us in so-called Spirit-filled churches have forgotten the raw power of conversion.

What is the heart of Dream Unite?

We believe in what God has called you for, and remember the only person that can ever keep you from that is you!

In your ministry right know…

Do you ever feel the burden of feeling you have to do everything by yourself?

Do you have passion that is burning deep within you or have you been close to burn out? Do you spend more time focusing on many things that you can’t really focus on the one thing that you were

called to do?

Do you have a hard time trusting others, and building relationships?

Do you feel like you are the only one that cares and nobody understands how you feel?

You try to reach out, help, serve, but sometimes you don’t feel you have anywhere to turn for encouragement, love, support, and sometimes just a trustful ear to listen?

Dream Unite is to help connect you with other passionate ministries just like yours, to help join arms in your missions that God has called you for. To help you be more effective, revive you ministry to be fun and full of passionate men and women that want to make disciples. Find brothers and sisters that are there to serve, help come beside you, team up with you, and together there is nothing we can’t achieve with God. Your burnout turns into peace, and your focus gets clearer. You become more defined, you have a support staff, full of ministries that love, encourage, pray for one another, serve one another, and only one motive to make disciples. A place to meet other ministries with hearts just like you, ministries where it isn’t trying to compare how they are better but always thinking together how we can be more effective and better to fulfill the call God has put deep inside of us all. We are a part of one body and we are not in competition. We all have a piece of the Grande puzzle that God has created but only found by each wonderful piece of the body. Our Dream is to not to be another event to put into your schedule, but to help you in all different areas of ministry. Be something that challenges, gives good info, and helps you build some of the greatest relationships that you have ever known. I want to see the body totally unite for nothing other but to see the fathers will to be done, but the only way that can happen is with your help. I am reaching, but are you willing to grab it back and let’s hold on through all the years as we grow together in Christ and do everything we can to reach generation to generation! “One thing that I have learned is being busy is never the problem, but the problem is being effective. “

There are only so many hours in a week, and days in a year. We are none granted tomorrow, but how can we be more effective?

Woman’s Empowerment Project By: Donnie Lord Jr

T

he first thirty three years of my life I lived how I

wanted. I drummed to a different tune. I marched to my own beat. I was not restrained in most things I did. My goal was to feed my flesh. I wanted to get that feeling yet again, the feeling of adrenaline and conquest. The carnal feeling you get when you can look at an attractive girl and say to your buddies “yeah, I got that”. I never really cared what people thought of me as long as my friends thought I was cool. I wanted them, the older kids on the block, to say I was a part of their group. I was looking for acceptance in people and I found it as long as I was like them and did the things they did. I had my first cigarette and first beer at age 12. Actually, the first time I had a beer I had more than one. I got drunk went home and threw up on my mothers floor. The life that I lived was not meant for me. I never realized I wasn’t living at all. I was merely going from feeling to feeling and from emotion to emotion until the age of thirty three. My thirty fourth year of life was the most important. I didn’t know this when that year started, but about half way through it I would have a decision to make. I chose to end my life. Whether I actually would have gone through with it or not is irrelevant. I made the decision to cease my life. At the moment of decision God intervened. I found that was not what He wanted for me. I released my life to Him and He in turn gave it back to me. My relationship with Him grows daily. Some days I can feel His presence strong and mighty and others I seem to find a way to push him further in the distant. I have learned that He is in control of my life as much as I submit to Him. I often pray for things most people don’t have the guts to pray for. I pray for compassion, to see the hearts of man as He does and to feel their pain. I want to cry for the people whose tears are all dried up and can’t cry anymore. I'll bet this is where my heart for hurting women comes from, from Him. I want to pray for the folks that don’t know how to pray or have lost all the words to say. I want to show the world that even with all of these bad and evil things we do to ourselves and to

DREAM

each other, God loves us and has a divine plan for our existence. want to share with you how He has empowered others out of their storms like He has me. I want you to see that hope lies in our faith in Him. I want you to understand trust starts with you trusting Him. I want to share with you how light forces darkness to run and only leaves peace and goodness to prosper in its place. Ladies, I am interested in hearing your God “success” stories. I want to hear how God has repaired the marriage that you thought would only end in divorce. I want you to share how He picked you up from the bottom of your barrel and now has you floating away in a new way on a new day. Tell me how He has healed your sickness or performed a miracle in your life. Did He save you from suicide or did He take you from a drug infected life and soared you to new heights? Did God resurrect your dead relationship with your parents or children? Women throughout the world have not been accomplishing what they have been empowered to do because they are being held in all forms of bondage and slavery. I want to put together a book of short stories for women from women. Ladies, this is an opportunity for you to share your story with other women who may be going through exactly the same thing you have already conquered. Remember how you felt when you were in that dark place and were being held back. What if you came across a book that had your situation in it and how it was overcome with the help of God? How would that have helped you? We have this “thing” in America where we feel we can throw money at a problem and it will be fixed. Well, there are some things, like matters of the heart, that can’t be fixed with a Washington or a Jackson. Women empowering women, a sisterhood on paper. Please share how God has turned your mess into His message.

The Mordecai Project is a Christian ministry founded by J. Lee Grady, a journalist, ordained minister and author of the groundbreaking book 10 Lies the Church Tells Women. The purpose of this ministry is to (1) confront the global oppression of women; (2) empower women to discover their God-given spiritual gifts and ministries; and (3) equip Christian men, including church leaders, to recognize, value, protect and train the women in their lives. This mission is accomplished through books, preaching, mentoring, leadership conferences, ministerial retreats and television programs in various languages. Lee is confronting all forms of abuse including domestic violence, female infanticide, denial of education to girls, forced prostitution and sex trafficking, female genital mutilation, mistreatment of widows and honor killings. He also calls for the full participation of trained women in church leadership, and he challenges the global church to reject unbiblical religious traditions that encourage gender discrimination. __________________________________________________________

I hope you where inspired and challenged in the first issue of Dream Magazine. I am twenty-six years old and I have grown up in Myrtle Beach, SC all of my life. I have a Dream to see people that have lost hope to find hope, that have lost their desire to dream to dream, and for broken hearts to be mended. Life is about choices and outcomes to our choices. I don’t care what someone has told you, what they have said you can’t achieve, but I believe that you can do whatever is deep down in your heart. It will take hard work, some sweat, and tears. Nothing worth achieving is easy, but if you are willing to put the time into achieving it I believe you will do it. I have thought many times even if you never achieve the dream that was put inside of your heart, you die knowing that you never gave up on what was put inside of you. Nothing or no one can ever stop you from reaching your dreams, but only you. We all have things in our lives, we all have felt heartbreak, dealt with loss, had some highs and some lows, but we still must persevere as long as air is in our lungs. Life is short and that is reason enough to ask yourself the question what are you waiting for? As you look around this world you see nothing but negativity and people that are tired of just going through a robot kind of life. We have no choice than to dream because what else do we have without that in our hearts and minds. We not only must dream but we have to believe that it will and can be done!

I HAVE A DREAM... In Dream magazine you find powerful stories of people that have dreams whether it is in there personal life, there ministries, and there businesses. I love to hear the heart of a person and there dreams because you find there passion that seems to flow out of their innermost being. I am a minister that wants to cause people to dream, to find there purpose in life, to lead with encouragement, and to share the freedom I have found in Christ which is the one that will not allow me to drop this dream to be a catalyst of change that is inspired in dreams and is followed by action . I know we live in a world that is tired of hearing words so I want to lead, dream, encourage, and live it with my life. I once read a young boys quote he wrote before he died that simply said , “you don’t know what you would live for unless you know what you would die for. I would die for you.” I live my life and give it so that you can also find the peace and freedom that I know because I know you are worth it! I have a dream that my words will not go void but be something that impacts this world my lifetime and beyond!
