Through servicing over 100 couples, my team and I were able to plan weddings and maneuver through the unknowns of a pandemic. We were also able to win two awards, one as a top 10 wedding planner in Detroit and another one as the Couple’s Choice award.

The number one request I hear frequently is, "I need help with finding a venue". Therefore, I created this guide as a way to help couples get started with their venue search. The guide is for metropolitan Detroit. Our company is located in Michigan, but we are available to travel.

I want to put out a disclaimer that the venues represented in this guide did not pay to advertise nor am I affiliated with them in any way. This guide is clickable which means if you click the links, you will be able to go to the website

Secondly, be open minded when doing your research. I notice that a few of them do not have the most updated websites and therefore it could taint your impression of the venue.

However, I encourage you to go to the venue yourself and see what your gut tells you. Also, keep in mind that if you are not a true designer/decorator, then what you may think is "ugly" could be your "hired professional" decorator's dream come true (There is nothing full room drapery can't turn into a fairy tale.) As long as it has four walls, you are good if you have the right decor!!!

Also don't worry about the carpet Your decor should cause guests to look up and not down The following venues are considered banquet style/conference centers and you will need to use their catered food service.

Lastly, most of these will come with a venue coordinator. But please do not get them confused with a wedding coordinator as they are completely different and have two different interests at heart. I HIGHLY encourage you to book and hire your own wedding coordinator in addition to the venue coordinator

Keep in mind these venues did not pay to advertise in this guide nor am I affiliated with them in any way This guide is a start for you to be able to do your research and see which venue best suites your vision, needs and wishes. This guide is clickable, which means if you click the links, you will be able to go to the actual website.

If you did not read the memo for the (west venue) section, I do want to remind you its is best to go see the venue in person versus looking online. Also, the venue itself does not have to be overly beautiful because with the proper decor, there will be a full transformation.

I like to mention that piece because I do not want couples to solely choose a venue based on how it looks. In regards to decor, something to consider is to ask the venue how much time do they allow for set-up. There are times when they will allow your vendors to come in early to setup which is always nice Another thing to ask about is if they need the linen the day before

If you are not a member of a church and you are open to having your ceremony somewhere else, then I'd suggest seeing if you can have the ceremony and reception at the same venue. Most of them have multiple rooms or even an outdoor option. This way it limits the back and forth of your guests driving around to multiple places.

However, ultimately it is your day so whatever you say goes I'm just giving you some things to think about as you are doing your research. I sincerely hope you find what you are looking for and that you have the best day imaginable!!!

Banquet Facilities - Downtown

The venues listed in this guide did not pay to advertise and I am not affiliated with them in any way. I wanted to put a guide together for you to have something to start with. Depending on which side of town you prefer to stay on, you will find venues in different areas at different price points. Definitely keep an open mind when you are doing your research.

Although downtown Detroit can be a central location, just be mindful of traffic and parking. Also think through if there are any sports games going on or if its a Friday wedding, be sure to think about the roads being crowded due to others getting off work.

Other than that, setup time is important and understanding the food serving options as well. Meaning, is it a plated meal or are allowing a buffet? See if they have a room minimum for food and beverage. And of course, I am going to always mention something about decor because its my most favorite thing. Mak e sure you have ample setup time and if you can, avoid places that have an elevator or else most vendors will charge you more for loading. So now I will let you get to the next section! Self-Service Facilities

If you are looking to be able to do your own thing, meaning bring in food (and sometimes alcohol), then this next section is for you. The following venues did not pay to advertise nor am I affiliated with them in any way. Also, they are not separated by location, therefore you will find venues that are east, west and downtown.

Even though you may save money on only having to get the venue, keep in mind you will need to do everything yourself or hire professionals to assist you. You would need to get your caterer, decorator, waitstaff, bar tender, plus the rest of your typical vendors

You know I love decor, so what I will say is.... most of these places are a blank canvas which is a decorator's dream. So although you are saving money on the food and venue, I would say to allocate those funds towards creating a magical atmosphere that takes your breath away and cause you and your guests to say WOW! I digress.... Definitely ask them about setup and breakdown time. And if you are looking for a decorator, let me know! I would love to transform the space. Golf Courses & Outdoor Options

For those of you who desire to be outside, the following places will give you just that. However, keep in mind that some of the previous banquet facilities do have an outdoor option as well.

Just with the previous venues, none of the golf courses or outdoor venues paid to advertise and we are not affiliated with them in any way. Be sure to click on the links inside this guide which will take you their website.

Anytime you opt to do an outside event, make sure you understand what the back-up plan is in case you have inclement weather. Also you want to know, with that plan, does their staff help switch things inside or will your vendors be responsible for that.

The pictures at an outdoor venue are absolutely beautiful, so I get why you are considering to look at golf courses and outdoor options. It is my hope, that you find what you are looking for!

Hotels

This is the last section of the venue guide I wanted to introduce you to the idea of hosting your wedding at a hotel. As previously mentioned with the venues, the hotels did not pay to advertise in this guide, nor am I affiliated with them in any way. If you see something you are interested, be sure to click the link which will take you directly to their website.

There are several benefits to having your wedding at a hotel. You can have the ceremony and reception at one place. Your guests can spend the night afterwards at a special discounted rate due to you having a room block That way if alcohol is being served, you don't have to worry about your guests leaving your reception intoxicated.

Some hotels do offer an outside area where you can have your ceremony, that way you can have the best of both worlds Even if you never considered getting married at a hotel, take a look just in case. Be open-minded and if you end up deciding against it, at least you looked at all options and chose the best one for your particular vision.
