827 826 Celtic Iron Age - Inscribed - Bronze Shield Boss. Circa 1st century BC - 1st century AD. Eastern European. A copper-alloy conical shield boss with large flange; pierced with four fixing holes; inscribed into the flange with hammered punchmarks in Roman capitals the legend [E?]NCREO . PRADI, possibly the warrior’s name. 305 grams, 175 mm wide (7 inches). Fine and complete. Rare. £500 - £800 Purchased at a German auction house in 1984.
