All about KL 20e air conditioners

In the course of preparation for the summer season, our Customer – PKP Intercity S.A. has decided on trainings carried out by our company. In May, we conducted four trainings on construction, operation, repair and maintenance of Konvekta KL20E air conditioners, mounted on our Customer's locomotives.

Trainings took place at the customer's headquarters in Warsaw, Wrocław, Kraków and Gdynia. The PKP Intercity Board knows that efficient air conditioning and ventilation, both in passenger compartment and locomotive, have a great impact on health, safety and travel comfort. With air conditioners the train drivers can travel long distances in optimal conditions - without the uncomfortable heat or noise generated by open windows. The cooled down and constantly exchanged air inside the locomotive is one of the elements protecting them from invisible but dangerous viruses, which is extremely important in the current situation. An efficient air-conditioning system is necessary to ensure such conditions for the locomotive staff. In our wide offer manufacturers and users can find Konvekta air conditioning units of KL20E, HVAC 2101, HVAC 3405 and HVAC 3407 series. Selection of the appropriate air conditioner depends on the size of the cabin and the type of electrical supply. In case of locomotives in PKP Intercity, the training covered all information on KL20E air conditioner, which is fitted to new, modernised and retrofitted locomotives. We want to stress that this device has a very wide range of applications and is mounted not only on locomotives, but also on buses and special vehicles. KL20E is a roof compact unit integrated with the brushless 24V electric motor. This solution meets train drivers' expectations and ensures comfort in their cabs throughout the year. These air conditioners characterize with a high reliability rate. Moreover, their construction and workmanship ensure many years of exploitation. As they are factory-filled with R134a refrigerant, they are quick to install and comfortable in use. Trainings performed for PKP Intercity had a form of lectures and practical classes (carried out on a locomotive featured with KL20). The substantive value of trainings was greatly increased by the fact of conducting them in the workshops, in the real working conditions of the PKP Intercity technical staff. Trainees worked in an environment that they are already familiar with and could ask additional questions. All these allowed us to pass the extensive technical knowledge in the accessible and personalized way . The practical training has additionally resolved any doubts. The knowledge we provide comes from the "first-hand experience", which means that trainees and trainers can be confident that all service standards comply with the manufacturer requirements. This will undoubtedly result in long and failure-free operation of air conditioners and reduction in repair and maintenance costs.
