KIBES 5 Key to integrated on-board electronic system

In our previous article, we introduced the services provided by our R&D Department. These include design of the KIBES system software, as well as the system implementation and diagnostics on a vehicle.

In this place, we would like to present you KIBES 5, the latest on-board electronics system for vehicles. The KIBES system offers great design flexibility to perform vehicle functions and end-customer requirements, even later – during the vehicle operation. The entire vehicle and its systems are controlled and monitored by distributed electronics and power management, as well as by the connection with vehicle sensors and actuators.

The flexible network system of KIBES allows an easy addition or removal of several components and it also simplifies the maintenance and trouble-shooting of the vehicle. Vehicles can be operated more safely and reliably due to built-in diagnostic features, such as short-circuit protection, open-load, and over-temperature detection. The minimized amount of wirings, connectors, relays and fuses allow for the vehicle weight and installation time to be significantly reduced, as well as the fuel consumption, documentation service and maintenance costs. At the same time, the vehicle reliability can be improved through high quality components that are carefully tested and validated not only on a component basis, but also on system level.

The core of the system is the central computer ZR5-A that provides a solution to almost every possible requirement. Up to 18 nodes can be connected to ZR5-A central computer for all types of in- and output signals. It offers comprehensive CAN network connectivity with the vehicle suspension and steering system /body and chassis control system, as well as to other systems, displays and meets the requirements for Human-Machine Interfaces.

KIBES32 systems with a control unit of the CBCU3 family provide powerful solutions that are dedicated to trucks and various types of working machines. Up to four nodes can be connected to CBCU3-E via multiplex CAN. Apart from that, control units of the CBCU3 family offer a network of powertrain CAN and instrument CAN, with the latter providing a direct connection to several possible instrument cluster solutions.

To ensure the compatibility of the following systems, we continue to use MUX multiplexers. The family of MUX5 provides a water protected system with the multiplex node MUX4-Pn for general purposes controlled by the master unit MUX5-Pcu.

Up to four MUX4-Pn nodes per multiplex CAN can be connected to MUX5- Pcu. The system also provides four generic CANs, as well as the installation outside of the cabin. LIN as an interface for intelligent switches, enables separate intelligent sensor interfaces and offers functional connectivity features for inside the vehicle. With KIBES -5 software, integration and testing of the application are easy and meet the requirements of different business models. Safetyrelated functions compliant with ISO 26262 and can be supported up to ASIL B. With KIBES5, the customer receives high flexibility and will be able to program these functions independently by using the KIBES tool chain and the KIBES 5 safety manual.
