Class Notes Julia Whitney Dawson is a watercolor artist, speaker and writer. She received the Community Service Award from The Community House in Birmingham, Mich., in recognition of her contributions to charitable organizations in the Detroit area. Julie has painted murals in hospitals using characters from her Sillybillies children’s books, written and illustrated books for the Detroit Public Library’s children’s reading program and helped with the Community House fund-raising effort.

The 1960 Delta Gamma pledge class meet in Chicago. Those attending included Judy Hartline Elbring ’64, Diane Black Seebass ’64, Marilyn Sanders Ferguson ’64, Darle Eichler Tilly ’64, Susan Moore Davidson ’64, Judith High Snow ’64, Molly Williams Loeser ’64, Susan Correll Cook ’64, Carol Powell Shields ’64, Linda Howell Adams ’64, Susan Weeks Carson ’64, Marjorie Willett Glenn ’64, Jill Van Skike Ramin ’64, Lynne McKinstery Bowers ’64, Sally Zoller Meyers ’64 and Dinah Eggers Mannlein ’64.

Eastern Kentucky University sponsored an on-campus exhibition of work by Willis “Bing” Davis, “Bing Davis: Seer of Art and Experience,” Sept 27-Oct. 20, 2006. During this time, Bing shared his art experience with a two-day artist residency and public lecture. Bing is the retired founder and president of the Willis Bing Davis Art Studio & Gallery in Dayton, Ohio. Patricia Foley Siddiq is an artist and world traveler who has made valuable contributions to the arts in Indiana. Her work appeared in the Poetry in Nature show at the Hoosier Salon in Indianapolis, July 2006. In September 2006, she was the featured artist at the Brown County Art Gallery in Nashville, Ind. W. Allan Walker is the author of The Harvard Medical School Guide to Healthy Eating During Pregnancy. He is a professor of pediatrics and director of the nutrition division at the Harvard Medical School in Boston. He received the Murray Davidson Award for Excellence in Pediatric Nutrition from the American Academy of Pediatrics. In 1999 he received an honorary degree from DePauw. Allan is a member of the DePauw Science and Technology Advisory Board. His previous books include Eat, Play, and Be Healthy, Manual of Pediatric Nutrition and Nutrition in Pediatrics: Basic Science and Clinical Applications.

1962

Members of the School of Nursing Class of 1962 held a reunion Oct. 7, 2006, in Three Lakes, Wis. (See photo, top left.) Sandra Aldrich Drew ’62 participated in a ceremony at Interlochen Center for the Arts to establish the Cassel Grubb Endowed Scholarship. (See photo, page 102.)

1963

Members of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Class of 1964 held a reunion in Santa Fe, N.M., at the Inn at Loretto Oct. 6-8, 2006. Dr. Philip N. Eskew is serving a three-year term as trustee of Indiana University. He earned his medical degree from the university and served the university in various capacities, including clinical professor in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the Indiana University School of Medicine and as a life-term member of the alumni association. Phil is the director of physician and patient relations at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He is a member of DePauw’s Athletic Hall of Fame and serves as president of DePauw’s alumni “D” Association.
