1972 » The new $7.5 million Science and Mathematics Center is dedicated on Old Gold Day. It replaces Minshall Lab, built in 1902, and later will be named for Percy Lavon Julian, distinguished scientist who was valedictorian of DePauw’s Class of 1920. “I have been saving for 20 years to give this to DePauw University. As a boy, I recall walking through the campus on cinder walks past some buildings – some were nice, others were not so nice. I have always wanted – before I died – to be able to help DePauw add a new science building to its campus.” » EDGAR A. PREVO, Class of 1912. In addition to gifts for the science building and other campus buildings, Edgar Prevo established – through a $700,000 bequest – a scholarship fund so that Putnam County students could have the benefit of a DePauw education.
